SPECIAL: 2013 Year in Review

The winter saw above average snow and was marked by the Blizzard in February .Then, late spring and early summer was very wet and cool. Only for fall to be one of the driest lately here in New England.

January 2013:: Below Average Snow

Avg High: 39-3 deg above average
Avg Low:: 24-2 deg above average
Total Snow: 5 inches-about 8 inches below normal

Feb. 2013- Blizzard of 2013

Avg High: 37-1.8 below normal
Avg Low: 25-about average
Total Snow: 34 inches- included 24.8 inches on Blizzard from 2/8-2/9. Way above average of 10 inches

March 2013:  -cold and snowy

Avg High :44- about 2 deg below average
Avg Low: 31- right around average
Total Snow: 20.6 inches- about a foot above normal

Winter Review: 

Total snow amounts of 63.4 inches for the winter. Way above the average of 41.8 inches

April 2013:

Avg High: 57- about 2 deg above average
Avg Low: 41-exactly average
Total Precip- 1.37 inches -about 2.4 inches below normal

May 2013-

Avg High: 67- 1 deg above average
Avg Low: 50-about average
Total Rain: 3.22 inches-about .5 below normal

June 2013: One of the wettest on record

Avg High; 78-about 2 deg above average
Avg Low: 61-about 2 deg above average
Total Rain; 10.5 inches!-3rd highest of all Time

July 2013 

 Avg High: 85- 3.5 deg above average
Avg Low: 69- 4 deg above average
Total Rain: 3.61 inches-about .2 above normal

August 2013::

Avg High: 80-around average
Avg Low: 65-around average
Total Rain: 1.85 inches-about 2.3 below normal

Summer Review: Started wet and ended around average

September 2013: 

Avg High: 73 -about normal
Avg Low: 55 -about normal
Total Rain: 2.2 inches- 1.2 below normal


Oct 2013:


Avg High 64-3 deg above average
Avg Low: 49- 2.5 above average
Total Rain: 0.6 inches-about 4 inches below normal


Nov 2013:

Avg High  50- about 1 deg below normal
Avg Low: 35-about average
Total Snow:  Trace
Total Rain: 2.72 inches- normal is 4.0 inches

Fall Review: Dry and cool. for the Boston area.

Dec. 2013:

Avg High: 40- 1deg below normal
Avg Low: 26-2 deg below normal
Total Snow: 11.7 inches

Alerts; A Freezing Rain Advisory is in effect NW of Boston until 5 AM Monday


Boston forecast:


Tonight: Periods of rain with freezing rain inland. Temps rising to 43 in Boston, but 35 inland. South wind of 15-25 MPH.

Monday: Periods of rain. Temps near 53 at noon will fall to 40 by 4 PM. South wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to  35 MPH in the morning, then changing to NW in the afternoon.

Monday night: Partly cloudy with scattered snow showers. Windy with lows around 15. NW winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH.

Tuesday:: Sunny and frigid. Highs around 15. NW wind gusting to 40 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 10 BELOW.

 Wednesday:  Sunny with highs in the low 20's.

Thursday: Dry with highs around 30.

Friday: Snow possible. Highs around freezing. 

US Weather: Wind chills as low as 60 BELOW are likely in the northern Plains. And, temps well below freezing will occur all the way to the Gulf coast.
