Blizzard Update

Heavy snow has fallen during the day today more than expected. About 2 FEET of snow has fallen in some areas north of Boston. And, about a foot has fallen in the JP area. Now, heavy snow will last until the morning with several more inches likely. Also, temps will be below 0 and wind chills as low as 25 Below!


Alerts:
A Blizzard Warning is in effect for the north and south shores until 11 AM.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the rest of the area-including Boston until 10 AM

Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for the coastline.

A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for the Boston area.

Rest of storm timeline: For Boston

Thru 7 AM: Heavy snow and strong winds. Temps around 0! NE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45 MPH.'

7AM- Noon: Snow tapers off to snow showers before ending. Temps in the single numbers.

Snow Totals:

18-24+ Inches: Parts of north and south Shore- some places may approach 30 inches!

12-18 Inches: The immediate Boston area. About 15 inches in JP!

6-12 inches:  Other parts of the area.


Wind Gusts:

50 MPH- Cape and Islands

45 MPH-rest of Coast-including Boston



Coastal Flooding:

Moderate Flooding: North shore and Boston

Major Flooding: : Parts of south shore and Cape and Islands

Rest of Weekend Forecast:

Friday afternoon: Mostly cloudy and windy. High 10. NW wind of 20-30 MPH with  gusts to 45 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 25 Below.

Friday night: Clearing with lows around 5 BELOW!  Wind chill values as low as 25 Below.

Saturday: Sunny with highs in the mid 20's.

Sunday: Partly Sunny with highs in the mid 30's.
