Happy New Year to all and thanks for reading my blog. Have a great time tonight, and be safe. This upcoming storm is very tricky to forecast, so I will make my best estimate at this point.
There are 3 areas of low pressure in the US. One near Dallas, another near the Great Lakes, and the other one near us. The one near us provided the area with 1-3 inches of snow today. These storms will all come together to form one mammoth storm in the Gulf of Maine. Then the storm will back towards the area providing the region with periods of snow, some heavy, Saturday and Sunday. It will also be very windy out of the north/NW with gusts over 50 MPH along the coast.
Snow Amounts from today (inches):
Lincoln: 3.0
Cambridge: 2.5
Boston (Logan): 2.2
JP: 2.0
Taunton: 2.0
New Years forecast:
New Years Eve: Cloudy until 2 AM, then light snow. Near steady temps in the upper 20's.
New Years Day: Snow showers until 9 AM, then remaining cloudy with scattered rain and snow showers. Highs in the mid 30's. Total accumulation around an inch.
Timeline for weekend storm: Temps in the mid to upper 20's during the entire period.
Friday night: Snow comes down from the north after midnight.
Saturday morning: Snow, some heavy. North/NW winds increasing with gusts as high as 50 MPH thru Sunday.
Saturday afternoon: Snow tapers to snow showers, remaining windy.
Saturday night after midnight thru Sunday: Snow, some heavy. Blowing and drifting.
Sunday night and Monday morning: Snow showers linger along the coast.
Amounts over entire period(inches): Could easily change if track changes.
9-12+: Southern NH and possibly Cape Ann.
5-9: The Boston area points north to NH Border and west to Worcester.
3-5: South of 95. Areas like Brockton, Taunton, and Plymouth. A bit more possible along immediate coastline.

Midday Update
The snow started in JP at around 11 this morning and has put down a coating as of 1230 this afternoon. The snow may briefly become heavy before ending around 4 PM this afternoon. The precip will be light for New Years Eve parties. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Boston and areas south and west until 3PM for 1-3 inches of snow. An inch or 2 should fall in JP. A forecast for the weekend snowstorm later.

Major Snowstorm?
The storm will come up the coast for tomorrow afternoon providing the region with an inch or 2 of snow, rain over the cape. It should taper to light sprinkles and flurries by mid-evening and continuing thru New Years Day. Then the storm will go into the gulf of Maine and stall as it rapidly intensifies. At this point it may be just slightly to far to the north to provide our area with a lot of snow. However, it will provide eastern and northern Maine with over 2 feet of snow over many days. Here in southern New England the storm will last for days also, but just light snow is likely. From Saturday thru Monday 3-6 inches are possible, more to the north and less to the south. However, a small shift south ( about 100 miles) would bring a blockbuster snowstorm to the Boston area.
Timeline for New Years Eve:
Noon: Snow arrives in Boston. Temps near 30, except rain to the south.
2pm-5pm: Moderate to heavy snow from Boston points north and west.

Snow or Rain?
The arctic air has arrived with temps now in the teens and wind chills down around 0. The temp will continue to drop throughout the day, bottoming out in the single digits tonight. Wind chill values may be as low as 20 below in some areas tomorrow morning. Then, a storm will come up the coast for New Years Eve. The exact track is still uncertain, and that will determine weather the Boston area gets rain or snow. As of right now, the track brings it right over the Cape Cod canal, meaning a transition to rain for most of the area after some snow on New Years Eve and Friday. A track further to the east would mean more snow because that means a north wind, and brings the cold air down from Maine. Then, the forecast becomes even more tricky. The storm will then stall just off the coast as it strengthens, bringing a major blizzard to northern New England. Some parts of northern New England may have over 3 feet of snow! However, a slight shift south would bring heavy snow to the Boston area on Saturday with significant amounts possible.
Local alerts: A Wind Advisory in effect for the entire area until 7 PM tonight.
A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for Worcester county for wind chill values as low as 20 below.

Wednesday: Sunny, but less windy. High 27. NW wind of 15-25 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 15 below before 9 AM>
Wednesday night: Becoming mostly cloudy with temps in the teens to near 20.
Thursday: Becoming cloudy with snow arriving from west to east. Highs near freezing.
New Years Eve: Snow continuing and becoming heavy at times, although a change to rain is likely along the coast after midnight. Near steady temps in the upper 20's to low 30's.
New Years Day: A nor'easter smacks the region with heavy preicp and strong winds. Highs in the 30's.

A New Years Day Storm?
Today will be cloudy with some light rain and snow advancing from the west. It will be mainly rain for the Boston area as high temps will reach the mid 40's before crashing. Then, an arcitc front will come through with snow squalls. That will bring in very cold and windy conditions for Tuesday and Wednesday. Then the fun begins. A storm loaded with moisture will come up the coast for New Years Eve and Day. The big question is will it be snow or rain. It is still too early to tell, but either way it will be cold and very windy. I will keep you updated throughout the week.
Local forecast:
Today: Cloudy with light rain and snow coming in from the west. Mainly rain in the Boston area, but some snow north and west of 495 where an inch or 2 is possible. South winds shifting to west and increasing to 15-25 MPH.
Tonight: Partly cloudy early, then becoming mostly cloudy with scattered snow squalls after midnight that could put down a quick coating. Turning windy and cold with lows in the mid 20's. NW wind of 15-25 MPH.
Tuesday: Partly sunny with a chance of an early snow squall, then turning much colder. High near 26 in the morning, but falling to 20 in the afternoon. Windy. NW winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.
Tuesday Night: Clear and frigid. Lows near 10 in Boston and single digits in the suburbs. Windy. NW winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH. WInd chill values as low as 10 below after midnight.
Wednesday: Sunny and windy. Cold, highs in the mid 20's. NW winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 10 below in the morning.
Thursday: Increasing clouds, highs ner 30.
New Years Eve: Becoming cloudy with snow likely arriving from west to east. Temps in the 20's.
New Years Day: A nor'easter is likely with heavy precip and very windy condtions. Highs in the 30's. Stay tuned for details.
Weather News: Oklahoma City was one of many cities that broke the record for the biggest snowfall ever over Christmas. In O.C. 15 inches of snow fell, and many places in the plains reported over 3 feet of snow as well as snow drifts over 12 feet. Many roads were closed including interstate 90 near Chicago.

A White Christmas!
As my family was driving home from a party it was snowing at around 11 PM, and by the time I had gone to bed there was a coating on the ground. The snow was produced by the cold winds going over the relatively warm water, producing ocean effect snow showers along the coast. However, by the time I woke up this morning temps were above freezing and the snow from last night had melted.
The band of rain we expect seems to be a little delayed coming in, so the rain will arrive in Boston in the early evening. Little if any wintry precip will fall in the area, because temps are now above freezing in most of the region.
Alerts: Winter Weather Advisory in effect until noon today for Worcester points north and west.
Local forecast:
Today: Cloudy with drizzle and light showers. Temps nearly steady in the mid and upper 30's. NE wind of 15-25 MPH.
Tonight: Rain arriving by 7 PM in Boston and then continuing heavy at times. Near steady temps in the upper 30's. SE winds of 15-25 MPH.
Sunday: Rain until 11AM, then turning partly sunny with showers in the afternoon. Warm, high 46.
Sunday night: Clearing early, then mostly cloudy late. Lows in the 20's to near 30.
Monday: Light snow arriving from west to east accumulating an inch or 2 from Boston points north and west. Temps in the 30's.
Extended: Behind the system on Monday arctic air will once again come into the region as highs will struggle to reach the mid 20's most of the week.

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to all and thanks for reading my blog! Have a fun, relaxing and safe holiday season! I hope to generate some more discussions in 2010, so please post any feedback you have.
Now to the weather: A storm that is causing major travel headaches in the middle part of the country will move this way for the weekend. This will be a mainly rain event for the Boston area; however, some freezing precip is possible at the very start. The rain will fall heavily at times through Sunday morning, and with the snow on the ground it may cause some flooding problems. There may be some snow on Monday, but it will not be a big event.
Timeline for Saturday:
After midnight: Some freezing drizzle is possible. Watch for icy spots, temps in the 20's.
6AM-noon: Cloudy and breezy with flurries or freezing drizzle around. Temps below freezing early then rising to 34 by noon in Boston, but 20's north and west of 128.
noon: Steady precip begins to arrive from west to east. Freezing rain is likely north and west of Worcester.
2PM: Rain arrives west of 128, however, it may start as brief period of freezing rain where the cold remains at the surface. Sleet and freezing rain continue north and west of Worcester.
4 PM: Rain will arrive around 3 in Boston, and 4 PM on the Cape. Little if any freezing precip in Boston and along the coast by afternoon. Sleet and freezing rain continue north and west of Worcester.
6PM-10 AM: Rain, heavy at times and windy. Freezing rain moves into NH. Temps in the upper 30's all night. SE winds gusting over 40 MPH along the coast. Watch for flooding.
10 AM Sunday: Rain ends in Worcester.
Noon: Steady Rain ends in Boston, but still some showers around. Otherwise, remaining mostly cloudy with temps in the low to mid 40's.
Accumulations:
Sleet and freezing rain: A light glazing of ice is likely north and west of Worcester. Not much ice buildup inside of 495.
Rain: 1-2 inches of rain should fall over most of the area.
Monday: As cold air comes in behind the storm and a front comes through snow showers or light snow are likely. Some accumulation is possible. Temps in the mid 30's. Stay tuned for details.

Dry Christmas
Cold air will begin to retreat from the area, but not until after a very cold day on Wednesday. The nor'easter that hammered us over the weekend is stalled in eastern Canada, and will begin to come back towards New England. In northern Maine another 8-12 inches of snow can be expected, but here in southern New England just a few snow showers. The next big storm to affect is will come in on Saturday, it may start as a mix but then quickly change to rain along the coast. However, there could be a prolonged period of ice inland.
Local forecast:
Tonight: Mainly clear, lows near 15 Downtown, 12 in JP and upper single numbers elsewhere. The wind will stay gusty, so wind chills will be near 0.
Wednesday: Partly sunny with a chance of snow showers in the afternoon. Cold, high 26. NW winds of 10-20 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 5 below before 9 AM. Also wind chills will not make it beyond 15 in the afternoon.
Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers, mainly along the coast. Lows in the teens to 20.
Christmas Eve Day: Mostly cloudy with a chance of an early snow shower, then some clearing in the afternoon. Warmer. high 35.
Christmas eve: Dry for Santa, but cold. Lows in the 20's.
Christmas Day: Increasing clouds, highs in the upper 30's.
Friday night: Becoming Cloudy, lows in the 20's to near 30.
Saturday: Still unclear how fast the storm will move in. The sooner it comes in, the more wintry precip is likely. However, a change to rain is expected in most areas along with windy conditions. Highs in the 30' s to near 40. Stay tuned for details.

Storm totals
Sorry I did not post another blog last night, as we did not arrive home until 1 AM. The snow was delayed coming into the Boston area because of all the dry, arctic air that was in place, so it took a while to moisten the atmosphere. Even though it was snowing thousands of feet in the air, the snow did not reach the surface. We were driving back from Medford at 1230, and the snow had just started to come down hard and a coating was on the ground by the time we made it back to JP.
The heavy snow is now (11 am) beginning to wind down in Boston, but it is still snowing heavily south of Boston. Light snow will continue in Boston and on the North shore for most of the day, amounting an additional 2-4 inches. The snow has caused the most problems on the Cape, with winds gusting over 50 MPH and over a foot of snow in most towns there. Thousands of power outages have been reported, as well as 3-ft drifts of snow. Many side roads are impassible because of all the downed branches and the drifts of the wet snow over SE MA.
Snow totals (inches): As of 11 AM:
Official JP total : 14.0
Mansfield: 19.0
Sandwich: 16.0
Attleborough: 15.0
Franklin: 14.0
Framingham: 11.0

Blizzard Warning!
A blizzard warning is now in effect for Bristol and Plymouth county as well as the Cape and Islands. A winter storm warning is in effect for the rest of the area, including Boston. The snow is expected to arrive from south to north starting at around 5 PM on the Cape and at around 8 PM in Boston. It may begin as as some raindrops on the Cape because temps there are above freezing, but it will quickly change to snow. The wind-driven snow will fall heavily at times to around Sunday midday.
Winds (MPH): NE/north winds will blow and drift the snow around making visibility near 0 at times.
Cape and Islands: Sustained at 35-45 MPH with gusts to 60!
South shore: 30-40 with gusts to 50.
Boston and north shore: 20-30 with gusts to 45
Timeline: The snow start and end times.
5 PM: Snow or mixed precip arrives on the Cape.
8 PM: Snow arrives in Boston
10 PM: Snow reaches NH border.
10 PM- 11AM : Nor'easter sets in- heavy snow and strong winds, blowing and drifting as well.
After 11AM: Heavy snow moves out, but still steady snow along the coast.
4 PM: Snow ends along the coast.
Totals (inches): My latest snow totals for the area.
14-20+ South of a line From Hull to Providence on to the Cape. Less is expected on the outer cape because of rain mixing in. Areas like Brockton, Weymouth, Taunton, Falmouth, New Bedford.
10-14: From there to a line from Gloucester to Framingham to Worcester. Includes the Boston area. Areas like Cambridge, Wakefield, Milton, Walpole, Norwood and Concord. About a foot in JP.
6-10: From there to a line from Lawrence to Lowell to Leominster.
2-6: North of the 495 belt.
Temps should remain near 30 before midnight, then fall into the low and mid 20's and hold steady through Sunday.
Another update later today.

A blizzard warning is already in effect for Long Island, NY.
What is a blizzard? the official is at least 3 hours straight of snow, winds of 35 MPH+ and visibility less than 1/4 of a mile.
Winds:
Cape and islands: Sustained of 30-40 with gusts to 60 MPH. These winds are capable of downing power lines and trees.
South shore: 20-30 with gusts to 50 MPH.
Boston and north shore: 15-25 with gusts to 45 MPH.

8-12: South of a line extending from Gloucester to Worcester. It does include the immediate Boston area. Areas like Lincoln, Medford, Stoughton, and Walpole. 9 or 10 inches should fall in JP.
4-8: North of the Gloucester to Worcester line. Areas like Lowell, Haverill, Littleton, Harvard,
2-4 Orange to Leominster to Lawrence.
less than 2: In NH.
Local forecast:
Tonight: Clear, remaining very cold. Lows in the single numbers in most areas to 15 Downtown.

Saturday: Becoming cloudy, high 30. Snow arrives from south to north,
Saturday night and Sunday: Near steady temp in the mid to upper 20's. Otherwise, follow timeline.

Blizzard Sunday?
Today was the coldest day since last winter with highs only reaching 21 in Boston, and wind chills near 0 all day. Tonight will be just above 0 in most suburbs, and tomorrow will be cold as well. The cold air will remain in place for the potential of a major snowstorm this weekend. A storm will come part way up the east coast on Saturday giving 6-12+ inches of snow in interior North Carolina, DC and Baltimore. The question is how close will the storm come to us? One trustworthy model gives us a major blizzard Saturday night and Sunday with over a FOOT OF SNOW for most of the area, and winds over 40 MPH. Of course, one of the other models I trust sends the storm mostly out to sea with light accumulations from Boston points south and east.
Local forecast:
Tonight: Frigid and breezy. Lows in the middle single digits in most suburbs, but near 12 Downtown and on the Cape. Also, if the wind drops off a few locations could drop below 0. Wind chill values below 0 all night.
Friday: Not as cold and sunny. High 27. NW winds of 10-20 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 5 below before 9 AM.
Friday night: Clear, lows in the teens.
Saturday: Sunny early, then increasing clouds. High near 30.
Sunday: Watching potential nor'easter. Temps near 30, so it would be mostly snow for this storm. Stay tuned for details.

Very cold!
Tonight will be the coldest night so far with all areas in the single numbers and teens. Thursday will not break 20 in some areas, as the arctic air invades the region. Friday and Saturday will be cold as well, then all eyes will turn to a storm to the south. The storm will come up the coast and make its closest past on Sunday, but it is still unclear how close it will come. It does seems likely that some snow will fall on Sunday, but the exact track will determine how much. There is no doubt that it will remain cold well into next week.
Local forecast:
Tonight: Frigid with a chance of a snow shower this evening, then partly cloudy. Lows near 9 in most suburbs to 14 in JP, and 17 Downtown. The wind gusting over 30 MPH will make it feel below 0 at times after midnight.
Thursday: Very cold, sunny and windy. High 21. NW winds gusting to 40 MPH in the morning, then gradually diminishing. Wind chill values as low as 5 below before 9 AM.
Thursday night: Clear, lows near 13 in Boston, 11 in JP, and single numbers elsewhere.
Friday: Sunny, but still very cold. High 26.
Saturday: Sunny, then increasing clouds. Highs near 30.
Sunday: Watching coastal storm, but some snow is likely. Highs in the low 30's. Stay tuned for details.

Thursday will be the coldest of the next several, with highs struggling to reach the mid 20's, but most days will be in the upper 20's to low 30's. However, it will by dry until Sunday. Then, there is a threat of an ocean storm which at the moment looks to head out to sea. However, we will need to watch it for the potential for snow.
Local forecast:
Tonight: The cold air arrives as lows will range from 22-28.
Wednesday: Sunny, high near 31 around noon, but falling into the mid and upper 20's in the afternoon. The wind will make it feel like 15. NW winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.

100th post!
Thank you for reading my blog! I enjoy writing about the weather here in Boston on a daily basis, and will continue write as often as I can. Please fell free to post any comments, suggestions or questions you have!
Now to the weather: This morning I slipped and fell on my street because of the black ice. Many accidents were reported throughout the area because of the black ice. There were even some school delays because of the slippery conditions. Tomorrow an arctic front will come through bringing very cold air into the area for the rest of the week, however we will be storm free.
Local forecast:
Tonight: Cloudy lows in the low to mid 30's. A flurry or sprinkle is possible.
Tuesday: Cloudy with a risk of a shower in the morning, then some clearing in the afternoon. High near 48, but falling into the low 40's by evening.
Tuesday night: Clearing and colder. Lows in the low to mid 20's.
Wednesday: Sunny and cold. High 30. West winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.
Thursday: Sunny and less windy, highs in the upper 20's. West winds of 10-20 MPH.
Friday: Sunny, highs in the low 30's.

What a day!
The snow started flying at around 6 am in Boston, and quickly changed to rain along the immediate water's edge. However, the rain/snow line stalled there for several hours. At one point is was even snowing in Falmouth, but raining in Beverly. I was at school in Brighton and we got around 2 or 3 inches before it changed to rain at around 10. However, just inland from the city the totals jumped--including 5.7 inches on top of Blue Hill. Even towns as close as Winchester picked up 5 inches or more before the changeover. Some places in northern Mass. picked up close to a foot of snow! Some snow fell at Logan, but we are still waiting for the official total.
For more snow totals:
http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&format=CI&version=1&glossary=0&highlight=off&issuedby=BOX&product=PNS
We also had some strong wind gusts along the coast:
Nantucket: 51 mph
Blue hill: 51
Chatham:48
Boston: 48
Now, at 8 pm, thunderstorms are crossing the region. I saw lightning at around 7 PM this evening here in JP as the cold air came crashing towards the coast. I don't expect a flash freeze in the city, but there will be some icy spots. However, outside of the city a freeze is possible so be careful in the morning.
Latest forecast:
Tonight: Cloudy with showers and thunderstorms this evening, then clearing and windy. Fog this evening. Lows near 34 Downtown, 32 in JP and 29 in many suburbs. West winds of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH.
Thursday: Sunny and blustery. High near 42. West winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH. Wind chills in the 20's.
Thursday night: The coldest night so far as the arctic air arrives. Lows near 20 in the city and teens elsewhere.
Friday: Bright blue skies and very cold, high 29. NW winds gusting over 30 MPH.
Next storm potential: Watching a coastal storm for Sunday. At this early stage it looks like a grazing with just light snow. Stay tuned for details.

Mainly rain Wednesday
The storm for Wednesday will track to the west of New England allowing for strong SE winds. Those winds will bring warm air in to the area off the Atlantic. That means any snow will quickly change to rain along the coast. However, west of 495 the transition to rain may take longer. Before the changeover snow may amount to an inch or two in and around the city, and 2-4 inches west of 495.
Tonight: Cloudy with an isolated snow shower possible, then clearing late. Lows near 30 in the city and 25 in the suburbs.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, highs near 40. A light NW wind.
Tuesday night: Clouds gathering with snow arriving from west to east by 4 am.

Snow totals of around an inch or two in the city points north and west to 495 and 2-4+ west of 495. SE winds of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH in the city and 50 MPH on the cape.
Thursday: Clearing, high 40.
Friday: Arctic air begins to take hold of the region as highs may not reach 30!

10 PM update
It transitioned to all snow for the Boston area around 7 PM and is now falling heavily. It has now changed to snow as far south as Plymouth. The snow has finally started to stick on the pavement here in JP, and about an inch has fallen on grassy areas and most cars. Total accumulation for most area of about 2-4 inches with some totals near 6 possible along and west of 495. About 3 inches on grassy areas should fall in JP, and a bit less on paved surfaces. Snow totals in the morning.
545PM update
Flakes are starting to mix in with the rain here in JP, with a current temp of 34. Flakes are also being reported at Logan with a temp of 36 there. I expect a full changeover in Boston in the next hour or 2. It is now mainly snow with rain mixing in west of 128. Temps still near 40 south of Boston. No change in projected snow totals. Another update later.
Slightly more
The temp has dropped under 40 in JP and west of the city as of 2 PM. Snow is falling in Worcester and snow is mixing with rain inside of 495. The rain/snow line will collapse towards the city over the next several hours. It will change to all snow by 8 PM in Boston. Then it will snow until around 5 AM Sunday, before tapering to flurries. It will stay all rain on the Cape.

Some Snow Saturday
Today was a wild day with heavy rain early this morning along with very strong winds. Then temps soared to near 70. It officially hit 69 at Logan, but many towns did hit 70! That temp broke the record set in 1932 of 65.
Some totals from today:
Rain (inches):
Acushnet: 1.5
Brockton: 1.4
Bedford: 1.3
Wind gusts (MPH) :
Blue Hill: 72
Barnstable: 56
Boston: 53
Stow: 50
It now appears that the storm on Saturday night will come a bit closer to the region. Although it still unclear how close it will come. One model has a direct hit with many inches of snow, but the other shows just light snow with for most of the area with minor accumulation. I am leaning more towards the grazing, but we are not out of the woods yet. Based on that track snow may amount up to 2 inches from Boston points north along the coast. It will probably will start out as rain showers, but then change to snow for most areas. South of the city it may be too warm for snow, especially on the Cape. Away from the coast a few snow showers may fall.
Boston, MA forecast:
Tonight: Mainly clear, lows in the upper 30's to near 40. Winds shifting to west at 10-20 MPH.
Friday: Bright blue sky with a high near 52. A west wind up to 20 MPH.
Friday night: Clouds gathering after midnight. Lows near 34 Downtown, 32 in JP and the upper 20's outside the city.
Saturday: Cloudy until late in the day, then some rain showers may arrive. High 42. A light north wind.
Saturday night: Still in question, but some snow is likely. Lows near 36 on the cape and the upper 20's to near 30 elsewhere. Total accumulation up to 2 inches.
Sunday: A snow shower is possible in the morning, then partly sunny. High 39.

Rain, but NO snow.
A big storm is on its way for tonight and the drive to work and school tomorrow. It will bring bring heavy rain and very strong winds. The southerly winds will pile up the water on the cape and Islands, so a Coastal Flood Warning is in effect there. The winds will also pump in warm air, as temps will be near 60 by dawn.
It now appears that there will be no snowstorm this weekend. There is good agreement between the models that the storm will head mostly out to sea. It will just graze us with some light rain showers, eventually changing to snow showers on Saturday evening. A minor accumulation is possible over parts of the area. However, a slight shift west may bring a bit more precip overnight Saturday.
Local alerts: A Wind Advisory is in effect until 1 PM Thursday for most of the area.
A High Wind Warning is in effect for the Cape.
A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for the Cape.
Tonight: Showers arriving at around 9 PM, then rain after midnight. Very windy with temps rising to about 60 by Dawn. South winds increasing to 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH in Boston and 50 MPH on the Cape.

Wet Thursday.... and White Saturday?
A big storm will effect the region Wednesday night and Thursday with heavy rain and wind gusts to 50 MPH. It will also be very warm as temps on Thursday afternoon may hit 65! Then all eyes turn to a storm gathering to the south. At this point it seems we will only get grazed by a major ocean storm. That means just light snow for most of the area, especially SE Mass. But, it is still many days away and a track closer would mean a decent snowstorm.

Wednesday night: Rain arriving from south to north and becoming heavy. Windy. Lows near 45 early, then rising to around 58 by dawn. SE winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 25 MPH.
