It now appears that the storm will come much closer to the region, providing parts of the area with several inches of snow. It will actually start as rain for most areas at around 2 PM. Then gradually change to snow from west to east. It will stay all rain on the Cape.
Timeline:
2 PM: Rain showers arrive.
5 PM: Rain in Boston, a mixture outside of 128 and snow near Worcester.
8 PM: Snow/rain line inside of 128, snow to the north and west and rain to the south and east.
11 PM: Snowing in Boston and western and northern suburbs. Rain on the south shore
After midnight: Snow, heavy at times in most areas, except rain on the Cape.
Dawn Sunday: Light to moderate snow will still be falling inside of 495.
10 AM: The storm ends with flurries. Then turning sunny.
Amounts:
1 inch: south shore and south coast.
2-3: inches Providence, RI northeastward through the immediate Boston area and on the north shore. About 2 inches should fall in JP.
3-4: Along and just north and west of 128.
4-6: Beyond 10 miles north and west of 128.
6+- in and around the Worcester to Fitchburg corridor.
Forecast:
Tonight: Clouding up with lows in the 30's.
Saturday and Saturday night: High near 40 and low near 30. Please follow the timeline above. Winds NE during the day then shifting to north with gusts to 40 MPH in the Boston area and 45 MPH on the cape.
Sunday: Turning sunny after some morning snow. Cold with a high of 38.
