Minor storm Friday

A potent weather system will pass well south of the region providing the area with a quick burst of snow Friday afternoon.  Most areas will pick up an inch or so, but amounts closer to 3 are possible on the Cape. Then, colder air will come in for the weekend. 

Local Forecast: 

Tonight: Clear in the evening, then becoming mostly cloudy with a chance of a flurry. Lows near 23 in downtown Boston, 21 in JP and 18 in outlying areas. 

Thursday: Sunny for most of the day, then increasing clouds late. High 34. NW wind of 10-20 MPH.  

Thursday night: Mostly cloudy, lows in the 20's.

Friday: Cloudy until 1 PM, then light snow. High 27. Total accumulation around an inch. 

Friday night: Cloudy with a chance of a snow shower before 8 PM, then partial clearing.  

 Temps falling into the teens. 

Saturday: Sunny, high 27. Wind chills in the single numbers. 

Sunday: Sunny, high 24. Wind chills in the single digits for the Pats playoff game at 1 PM. 

Weather News: Temps in Atlanta, GA today only reached a max of 37, with a hard freeze expected there. The high in Tampa, Fl was only 47, and temps around freezing are expected tonight there also. There could even be some snowflakes this weekend in central FLORIDA! High temps in New Orleans today only reached 42, and snowflakes could fly in parts of the Gulf Coast states also.
