A powerful storm will come up the coast and hit the area over the weekend. It now appears that it will be stronger and colder, leading to more snow in the Boston area. But, a brief change to sleet or rain is still possible in Boston as warm air comes off the water. As, winds may gust to 40 MPH from the NE. However, inland it will be all snow and it will really pile up.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 1 PM Saturday to 1 PM Sunday for the Boston area.
A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for the coast for some flooding.

Tonight: Increasing clouds and frigid. Low 13.
Storm Timeline: For Boston area
Saturday Morning. Cloudy with a snow shower possible. Temp 20.
Saturday afternoon; Scattered snow showers. Temp 25.
7 PM: Snow arrives. Temp 26.
8PM- 3AM: Snow becomes heavier with temps rising to 30. NE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.
3AM-8AM: Some sleet or rain may mix in with the snow in Boston, but heavy snow continues inland. Temps around freezing .NE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.
8 AM- 10 AM: Any mix changes back to snow before ending. Temps fall into the 20's. North wind of 10-20 MPH.
Sunday afternoon: Some clearing is possible. Highs around 30.
Snow Totals: Subject to change.
5-8 inches: in Boston- could be a bit less if a full change to rain occurs
8-12+ inches: NW of rte. 128- some areas could have more than a foot.
