Rain Forecast

A powerful storm will hit the area on Sunday afternoon with heavy rain and some wind. Temps will hold in the low 40's during the storm. Then a strong arctic front will cross New England on Monday and temps will crash behind it. After that a frigid First Night is likely.

Alerts:

A High Wind Watch is in effect for the Cape And Islands for Sunday Evening.  Gusts past 50 MPH are likely there.

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Increasing clouds with temps steady around 35.

Sunday: Cloudy in the morning, then heavy rain in the afternoon. High 42. SE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.

Sunday night: Heavy rain in the evening, then mostly cloudy late. Lows in the mid 30's. NE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH. Total rainfall from 1-2 inches likely.

Monday; Partly to mostly sunny and windy. Temps falling thru the 30's and into 20's by evening. NW wind gusting past 30 MPH.

Tuesday: Sunny and very cold. Highs in the mid 20's.

New Years Day: Snow showers possible. Highs around 20.
