Blizzard Wednesday!

A powerful ocean storm will slam the Boston area on Wednesday with heavy snow and wind. The heaviest snow will fall during the morning commute, along with blowing and drifting as the wind gusts over 4o MPH. The snow will last thru most of the day, really piling up-especially away from the coast. Although amounts in Boston and near the coast won't be too bad either, except on the Cape and islands. 

Alerts: 

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for all of the area. It will be upgraded to a warning Tuesday. 

Boston, MA forecast: 

Tonight: Clear with lows in the teens. 

Tuesday: Sunny in the morning, then increasing clouds in the afternoon. High 29. NE wind of 10-15 MPH. 

Tuesday evening: Cloudy with temps in the 20's. 

Storm Timeline: 

3 AM: Snow arrives in Worcester. 

4 AM Wednesday: Snow arrives in Boston. 

7 AM-1 PM: The height of the storm with heavy snow and strong winds creating near blizzard conditions. Stay off the roads if you can. 

2 PM- 7 PM: Steady snow continues. 

9 PM: Snow tapers to snow showers and flurries. 

Amounts: 

10-14+: The entire Boston area all the way west to Worcester. About a Foot in JP! Some spots may receive near a foot and a half! 

6-10: The immediate south shore-south of Marshfield because of a mix with sleet. 

3-6: The cape and islands because of a change to rain. Not much on Nantucket. 

Temps: Steady temps in the upper 20's to near 30 during the day on Wednesday.
