A big storm is on its way for tonight and the drive to work and school tomorrow. It will bring bring heavy rain and very strong winds. The southerly winds will pile up the water on the cape and Islands, so a Coastal Flood Warning is in effect there. The winds will also pump in warm air, as temps will be near 60 by dawn.
It now appears that there will be no snowstorm this weekend. There is good agreement between the models that the storm will head mostly out to sea. It will just graze us with some light rain showers, eventually changing to snow showers on Saturday evening. A minor accumulation is possible over parts of the area. However, a slight shift west may bring a bit more precip overnight Saturday.
Local alerts: A Wind Advisory is in effect until 1 PM Thursday for most of the area.
A High Wind Warning is in effect for the Cape.
A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for the Cape.
Tonight: Showers arriving at around 9 PM, then rain after midnight. Very windy with temps rising to about 60 by Dawn. South winds increasing to 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH in Boston and 50 MPH on the Cape.
Thursday: Heavy rain until 10 AM, then becoming sunny. Very windy with highs near 65 in the morning, but dropping to 55 in the afternoon. South winds of 25-35 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH in Boston and 60 MPH on the Cape.
Thursday night: Clear, lows in the 30's to near 40. West winds of 10-20 MPH.
Friday: Sunny, highs near 50.
Saturday: Clouds gathering in the morning. Then, rain showers south of Boston and snow showers from the city points north in the afternoon. A little accumulation is possible. High 38.
