The latest track bring the strong storm just south of what the models were indicating yesterday. The heaviest rain and strongest winds will be confined to the south shore and the cape. Today was a very cold day, with highs only reaching 43 in Boston. As the precip starts falling, the temp will drop and that will allow for some wet snowflakes to fall in some spots. A slushy coating is possible west of 495, as the temps there will be the coldest. The strongest winds from this nor'easter will be on the islands, where gusts to 55 MPH possible. Here in Boston and on the north shore gusts to 35 MPH are possible. The wind will make it feel like it is in the MID 20'S most of the day, as the air temp will barely make it to 40. The rain will begin to leave Boston at around 10 AM, and around noon northeast of the city. The wind will remain gusty throughout the day. Then, another coastal storm will come in on Saturday afternoon and last through the day on Sunday. Temps will not rise above the upper 40' s all weekend.
Local alerts: High wind warning in effect for the islands. Wind advisory for the south shore and the cape. Both advisories in effect from midnight until 11 am Friday. Coastal flood warning in effect for the entire mass coastline for Friday. The alerts will likely be needed on Saturday night and Sunday as well.
