A Mix

Well, snow has changed to rain here in JP, cutting back on snow totals. As my rain/snow line forecast was a little off. However, I expect rain to change back to snow and may amount to a few inches in the JP area before tapering off. Sunday will be cold and windy with a partly sunny sky. New Year's Eve will also be sunny and cold.

Snowstorm Saturday

A storm will ride up the coast and give Boston its first significant snowstorm of the season. Flakes will start to fly around noontime and continue well into the night. The wind won't be a big issue, meaning coastal flooding won't be major. Sunday will dry out and be cold as well.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect south of Boston where 6+ inches of snow is possible.

Nor'easter Forecast

A powerful nor'easter will hit the area with heavy precip and strong winds. However, most of the percip will fall in the form of rain in Boston and along the coast. But, further inland it will fall as snow and will pile up quite a bit. There is chance for another storm this weekend.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for the north and south shores. Wind gusts to 60 MPH are likely

Tonight: Rain mixed with wet snow at times. Near steady temps around 37. NE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH. No Snow accumulation expected.

Thursday: Rain in the morning, then scattered rain showers in the afternoon. High 43. NE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH in the morning, decreasing to 15-25 MPH in the afternoon.

Thursday night: Scattered rain showers diminish. Lows in the low 30's.

Friday: Sunny with highs in the mid 30's.

Saturday: Cloudy with snow possible late. Highs around freezing. Stay tuned!

Storm Update

Wednesday will be a dry day with temps in the 30's. Then as the storm arrives in the evening, a brief burst of snow is possible before a quick switch to rain in Boston. But, further inland it will remain snow longer where a few inches are likely. It will also be windy with powerful gusts possible even in the Boston area. The precip will all wind down Thursday afternoon.

A more powerful storm is likely Wednesday night into Thursday. At this point it looks like it will start out as snow before changing to rain.

A White Christmas

Christmas eve day will be dry for any travel throughout New England as High pressure has control. Late Christmas Eve snow will arrive and continue thru most of Christmas Day. Some small accumulations are likely making it a wintry scene. Another more powerful storm is likely Wednesday into Thursday.

Tonight: Clear with a low of 27.

Christmas Eve Day: Mostly sunny with a high of 37. West wind of 10-20 MPH.

Christmas Eve: Increasing clouds until 4 AM, then snow. Lows in the upper 20's .

Christmas Day: Periods of snow. Highs in the mid 30's. Total snow amounts of 1-2 inches expected.

Wednesday: Increasing clouds with precip likely arriving late. Highs in the 30's .

Chilly Sunday

Sunday will still be a bit windy and sunny with temps in the 30's. Christmas Eve will be dry for travel before a weak storm comes into the area. At this point it looks like snow should start overnight on Christmas eve and last into first thing Christmas morning. Stay tuned for my initial amounts on Sunday!

A powerful storm will pass to our west leading to a windswept rainstorm. The height of the storm will be from mid morning thru the early afternoon and even thunderstorms are possible. On Saturday a weak system will lead to scattered rain and snow showers. Sunday should be dry and chilly.

Thursday will be the best day of the week with sunny skies and less wind. Then, a powerful storm will pass to our west meaning we are on the warm side of the storm again. Heavy rain and wind will fall during the day on Friday, and thunderstorms are even possible. Saturday will be colder with snow showers possible.

More Rain

Stormy Week

In Boston rain will continue off and on thru the day on Monday. Then another rain storm is likely on Tuesday as temps rise into the 50's. Wednesday and Thursday will be dry before another storm on Friday.

Snow Update

A storm will come in from the west leading to a burst of snow in the afternoon before changing to rain. Rain will continue off and on thru the day on Monday. Then another storm will come into the area on Tuesday and looks like a rain event.

Tonight: Increasing clouds with low of 27.

Sunday: Scattered snow showers in the morning, then rain mixed with snow in the afternoon. High 36. East wind of 10-20 MPH.  Snow may coat the ground in some areas.

Sunday night: Rain mixed with wet snow until 7 PM, then rain. Near steady temps in the mid 30's. East wind of 10-20 MPH.

Monday: Rain showers continue. Highs around 40.

Tuesday: More rain likely. Highs in the mid 40's.

Storm Sunday

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families in CT after the horrible events there today. As for the weather a storm will come into the area late on Sunday. At this point a brief burst of snow is possible before a change to rain. Then, more storminess is likely early next week.

Quiet weather will continue for the next few days with temps above normal on Friday and near normal on Saturday. Then a storm from the west will arrive on Sunday and it will start as snow. However, at this early point I expect it will change to rain during Sunday evening. Stay tuned for more as we get closer.

Dry for Now

A warm front will come thru the area tonight leading to periods of rain. Monday will be very warm and breezy with showers around. Then, the rest of the week looks dry and near normal at this point.

Half and Half

Showers will be scattered tonight and Saturday morning, before just misty for the afternoon. It now appears that Sunday will be dry during the daylight hours before rain arrives at night. Monday will be very warm and wet as another front comes thru.

Showers Saturday

A front will come in from the west leading to rain late Friday into Saturday morning. The rain should taper off by Saturday afternoon. Also, Sunday looks like a dry day before rain arrives overnight.

Chilly Thursday

The cold front came thru today leading to a chilly evening. Thursday will be a bit below normal with temps around 40. On Friday increasing clouds will lead to rain overnight and into the weekend. At this point it looks like an all rain event.

Saturday: Widespread rain showers. Highs around 50.

Cold Front

A sharp cold front will cross the area first thing Wednesday morning with a band of rain showers. Then, cold air will come into the area in the afternoon. Thursday will be the coldest day of the week with highs near 40. Wet weather is possible over the weekend.

Tonight: Cloudy with scattered showers late. Areas of fog with near steady temps around 53.

Wednesday: Showers until 10 AM, then increasing sunshine. Temps near 53 in the morning will fall to 43 by 4 PM. Wind shifting to NW at 15-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Wednesday night: Clearing with lows in the upper 20's.

Thursday: Sunny and cool. Highs around 40.

Friday: Increasing clouds with highs around 50.

Saturday: Showers possible. Highs in the 40's.

Sunday: Wet weather likely .Highs in the  40's.

Last Warm Day

Under cloudy skies temps will once again rise well into the 50's before a cold front arrives Tuesday night. Showers will hang around Wednesday morning, before cold and clearing come into the area. It will remain in the 40's for the end of the week.

Tonight: Clear this evening, then increasing clouds. Patchy fog with lows near 35 in Boston and 27 in the suburbs.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy and warm. High 57. SW wind of 10-20 MPH,

Tuesday night: Scattered showers in the evening, then showers after midnight. Lows around 50.

Wednesday: Showers around in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. Temps in the low 50's in the morning will fall into the 40's in the afternoon.

Thursday Sunny and cooler. Highs in the mid 40's.

Friday: Increasing clouds with highs in the 40's.

Tropics: Super Typhoon Bopha now has winds of 160 MPH! It made landfall over the last couple of hours in the southern Philippines.

Split Week

A weak front crossing the area tonight will lead to some showers. On Monday the sun will come out and temps will jump into the 50's. Tuesday will also be warm, before a cold front arrives on Wednesday. It will be cooler for the end of the week.

Monday: Increasing sunshine. High 55. NW wind of 10-20 MPH.

Monday night: Partly cloudy with lows in the low 40's

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 50's. Showers likely at night.
Wednesday: Any early showers end, then clearing. Temps near 50 in the morning fall into the 40's late.

Thursday: Sunny with highs around 40.

Friday: Sunny with highs in the 40's .

Tropics: Super Typhoon Bopha will hit the Philippines early this week with damaging winds and flooding rains.

Temps Rising

Areas of snow and freezing drizzle will lead to slippery spots this evening. Then, as temps rise frozen precip will change to plain rain. Temps will rise into the 50's on Sunday before a front arrives late. Monday and Tuesday will feature more sun and warm temps as well.

Warm Front

A warm front will cross the area on Saturday with scattered snow and rain showers during the day. Then, warm air will surge into the area on Sunday. It will remain warm early next week.

Saturday: Scattered rain and snow showers in the morning, then scattered rain showers in the afternoon. High 37. NE wind of 10-20 MPH. Snow may coat the ground in some areas.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy and warmer. Highs in the mid 50's .

Monday: Sunny and warm.  Highs in the mid 50's.

Snow Saturday

A front will cross the area tonight leading to a very cold Friday. Then, a warm front will approach from the West leading to some snow showers Saturday morning. It should switch to rain showers by afternoon, but there could be a coating of snow before the changeover. Sunday will be much warmer with highs well into the 50's.

US Weather: A major storm is hitting the west coast with a foot of rain possible in some areas. And, there could be feet of snow in the mts.

Cold Front

An arctic cold front will cross the region on Thursday with no precip, but lots of cold. Friday will be the coldest of the season with temps struggling to reach freezing. Then,  a warm front will come into the area on Saturday with a chance for some snow showers. Behind the front on Sunday temps will warm to near 50.

Storm Update

Well, a mix of rain and snow has fallen in the area today leading to some coatings throughout the area. The mix will continue overnight and it may accumulate a little in some areas. Any early precip should end, then some clearing is possible. It will remain cold thru Friday before a warm front comes into the area on Saturday leading to some more precip.

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Rain showers mixed with wet snow. Low 32. Snow may coat the ground in some areas.

Wednesday: Scattered flurries and sprinkles until 8 AM,  then mostly cloudy. High 40. NW wind of 10-20 MPH.  Watch for slippery spots in the morning.

Thursday: Mostly sunny with highs around 40.

Friday: Sunny with highs in the mid 30's,

Saturday: Scattered rain and snow showers. Highs in the 30's.

Some Snow

An area of low pressure will pass well south of the area on Tuesday leading to areas of light snow from Boston and points south. It won't be too heavy in Boston, so snow amounts will be limited. On Wednesday there will be still be a threat for a snow shower, but nothing big. It will dry out for the end of the week.

Tonight: Increasing clouds with a low of 28.

Tuesday: Cloudy until 9 AM, then light snow. High 36, but falling to 32 by 4 PM. SE wind of 10-15 MPH. Snow may coat the ground in some areas.

Tuesday night: Scattered snow showers in the evening, then remaining cloudy. Lows around 30.

Wednesday: Partly sunny with a snow shower possible in the morning. Highs around 40.

Thursday: Sunny with highs in the low 40's.

Friday: Sunny and cold. Highs in the 30's. 

A Shift South

Monday will be sunny and a bit warmer than today. Then a weak low pressure will pass south of the  area on Tuesday leading to some light snow of flurries, but it won't be a big storm. The rest of the week will be below average and dry.

SPECIAL: 2012-13 Winter Forecast

This is a preview of the upcoming winter ahead. After last winter that wasn't I expect this winter to be much colder and snowier. The long range data this winter supports some nor'easters, but most of the big storms could hit further south than Boston. As before, this winter I will predict snow totals for the immediate Boston area.

Dry For Travel

One of the biggest travel days of the year will be dry here in New England. Most of the country will also be dry, except for a storm in the Pacific Northwest. Thanksgiving will feature more sunshine with temps in the 50's. Friday will be the warmest of the week before a cold front comes thru.

Calm Weather

A storm well to our SE will increase the clouds over the area leading to partly sunny skies on Tuesday. Wednesday will feature more clouds, but dry for travel all over the NE. Thanksgiving will also be a nice day with more sunshine and temps near normal..

Thanksgiving Week

High pressure will continue to protect New England right thru Thanksgiving week, Temps will gradually warm up throughout the week, with temps reaching above normal by the end of the week. The biggest travel day of the year - Wednesday will be dry with temps in the 50's. It will be fine for travel over all of the Northeast.

Monday: Mostly sunny with  a high of 50. NE wind of 10-20 MPH.

Storm Free

High pressure will continue to dominate the weather for the next several days. Temps will also be normal-about 50 during the day. The storm early next week continues to be a wide miss at this point.

A cold front came thru the area today as temps crashed behind it. Now, sunny and cool weather will rule the next several days as high pressure will come into the area.

A Cool Front

A Cool front will come thru the area during the day on Tuesday with showers around.The front will also drop temps into the 40's by the end of the day as the cold air comes in. Sunny skies, but cooler temps will rule for the rest of the week.

Tonight: Cloudy with showers late. Near steady temps around 57.

Tuesday: Showers in the morning, then scattered showers in the afternoon. Temps near 60 in the morning will fall to 47 by 4 PM. Wind shifting to West at 10-20 MPH.

Wednesday: Sunny with highs around 50.

Thursday: Sunny with highs in the upper 40's.

The Week Ahead

Temps will soar well into the 60's for the Monday holiday for many. A cool front will bring showers into  the area on Tuesday. Then, cooler and dry weather for the rest of the week as a cool High pressure system comes into New England.

Snow!

Snow has been falling in the Boston area this evening-with some reports of up to 5 inches west of  Boston. In Boston an earlier mix of rain and snow has changed over to snow over the last few hours. Snow may amount to an inch or so in Boston, but more not too far to the west. The precip will be off and on thru the night and most of the day tomorrow.

Storm Update

A storm will come up the coast and give us a mix of rain and some snow. Some ocean effect rain or snow showers will arrive in the morning, before steady precip arrives in the afternoon. It may even start with a brief burst of snow around Boston before changing to rain. The snow may coat the grass in and around Boston, with more possible out around central MA. The wind will gust over 50 MPH in some areas leading to scattered power outages, but not as much as Sandy last week.

Nor'easter Ahead

Election day will be a great day to head out to vote with sunny skies and highs in the 40's. On  Wednesday it will become increasingly windy and cloudy with precip arriving in the afternoon. The height of the storm will be overnight Wednesday night with windswept rain. However, some areas may mix with wet snow in the evening-even close to Boston- before changing to rain. Sunday night will be the coolest night so far with temps dropping to near freezing in Boston and 20's elsewhere. Monday and Tuesday will also be chilly with sunny skies and highs in the 40's. Then, a powerful storm will come up the coast and give us another storm. The nor'easter will give us heavy rain and strong winds-effecting all the areas hit by Sandy last week.

Colder Weekend

Clouds will hang tough on Friday as the remains of Sandy spins around the Northeast. Then, as the storm heads into Canada a NW flow will draw cold winds into New England. Temps will struggle to reach 50 over the weekend.

Storm Update

Winds have picked up today along with pockets of light rain. Winds will begin to ramp up first thing in the morning, then the height of the storm will be Monday afternoon. Winds may gust close to hurricane force in some areas leading to widespread power outages. High waves will also cause major coastal flooding in some south coastal locations. I highly suggest that you stay inside during the height of the storm because of the danger of downed power lines.

Storm Timeline

Hurricane Sandy will make landfall in Central New Jersey on Monday as a Cat 1 Hurricane. That will lead to a major impact here in the Boston area. The peak of the storm will during the day on Monday with heavy rain and strong winds. However, the heaviest rain will fall to our south- in the NYC to Washington corridor. The seas will also build offshore leading to severe coastal flooding over many tide cycles along the coast.

Sandy Forecast

Sandy now has winds of 75 MPH, making it a minimal Category 1 Hurricane. The latest track still sends it into NJ as a strong Tropical Storm or minimal Hurricane. That would still lead to a major impact here in the Boston area. Conditions would start to worsen by late Sunday and not improving until Tuesday night. Now is the time to prepare for the storm! Bring any items that may blow away, and clear leaves from any storm drains to help the flooding.

Saturday: Sunny with a high of 65. SE wind of 10-20 MPH.

Saturday night: Increasing clouds with lows in the upper 40's .

Sunday: Cloudy and becoming breezy. Highs in the low 60's. NE wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Track of Sandy

Hurricane Sandy now has winds of 100 MPH, making it a Cat 2.  The latest track sends it North up the eastern seaboard, but then turning NW into NJ on Monday as a Strong TS or minimal Hurricane. So, it seems more probable  that we will get some effects from Sandy. This track would not be the worst case scenario, but it would still gives strong winds and heavy rain. Stay tuned for more track updates thru the weekend.

Impact Likely

Hurricane Sandy now has winds of 85 MPH, but it is intensifying south of Cuba. The latest track has a path through the Bahamas as a Hurricane. It will then come up the east coast this weekend making a very close pass to New England if not a direct hit on Monday seems very possible. At the point it comes up here it could be a Hurricane or an extra tropical major nor'easter. Either way the effects could be damaging. Stay tuned for further updates.

Tracking Sandy

Tropical Storm Sandy still has winds of 50 MPH. However, it is expected to become a Hurricane overnight as it heads towards Jamaica. It will then cross Cuba and head towards the Bahamas towards Friday. After that it becomes tricky. One reliable model sends it out to sea, the other sends it into New England by Monday as a historic nor'easter. At this point either solution is possible.

Tropical Storm Sandy

Tropical Storm Sandy has formed south of Jamaica with winds of 45 MPH. The latest track sends it across Jamaica and Cuba over the next few days . And then late in the week it will pass over the Bahamas After that it is still up in the air, but there is a chance it could come up the east coast and make a close pass to New England early next week. Stay tuned for more details throughout the week.

A storm will come in from the west leading to showers throughout the day along with a gusty wind. It should clear out by midday on Saturday and temps should soar into the 70's. Sunday will be cooler with more clouds.

900th Post!!!

This is my 900th post since I started my blog a few years ago. And,  I plan on continuing my blog thru the upcoming winter and beyond! I will blog as often as I can from PSU-but my studies come first. As for the weather Thursday will be another nice fall day with highs in the 60's. Then, a storm will give us rain Friday into Saturday.

New England Earthquake!

An earthquake has it New England tonight with a magnitude of 4.0 at around 710 PM. It was originally estimated at 4.6, but it was later downgraded. The epicenter was just outside of Portland, ME in a town called Hollis Center. We felt it here in Plymouth, NH at Plymouth State University. The apartment shook for a couple of seconds as the earthquake hit. The quake was felt all over New England, but thankfully no major damage has been reported.

Showers tonight

A cool front will come thru tonight leading to widespread showers. Temps will be cooler on Tuesday behind the front with a west wind. But, temps will rebound on Wednesday and Thursday along with sunny skies. More rain is likely by late Friday.

Tonight: Showers. Low 53. West wind of 10-20 MPH.

Tuesday: Any early showers clear, then a mix of sun and clouds. High 60. West wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 25 MPH.

Thursday: Sunny and nice. Highs in the upper 60's.

Friday: Rain arriving late. Highs in the mid 60's .

Tropics: Hurricane Rafael now has winds of 85 MPH. It will make a close pass to Bermuda on Tuesday night where a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect. It will then head out to sea. In the E. Pacific major Hurricane Paul will swipe Baja California where a Hurricane Warning is in effect.

The Week Ahead

Monday will be a warmer day with a shower possible late as a cool front comes thru. Tuesday will be cooler, but it will be a dry day. Wednesday will rebound with temps near 70 again along with sunny skies. Temps will be above normal for the end of the week.

Widespread Frost

The coldest air of the season will come into the area tonight. So, bring in any plants that you may have outside. Saturday will be a great fall day with sunny skies and temps in the 50's. Sunday will be a warmer day, but there will be a chance for a morning shower.

Freeze Watch

A Freeze Watch has been issued for Friday night for the entire Boston area. So, bring in any plants that could be killed. As a cold front will come thru the area with just a shower possible, but it will drop the temps in the afternoon. After a cold start Saturday will turn out to be a great fall day. It will turn out warmer on Sunday.

Bright and Breezy

The sun will finally come out on Thursday along with a gusty wind. A cool front will come thru on Friday leading to a small chance of a shower but also cooler temps. This weekend there will be a widespread frost for the first time and then a warmup on Sunday.

One More

It will be not the best weekend to view foliage, but leaves are changing up in Northern New England. And, even in the Boston area some trees are changing as well. On Saturday showers will fall in the mountains, with just scattered showers in the Boston area. Sunday will washed out in Boston, but only showers further north.

Boston area: Some trees are changing around the area. The peak will be in late October.

Fine Friday

Rain will end this evening, and skies will partially clear by morning. Then any early fog will lead to sun and temps will rise into the 70's. Then a cool front will come into the area on Saturday with  a shower possible. On Sunday the front will stall and low pressure will come up the coast leading to a chilly rain. It will be a cool and dry Columbus day.

Another day of clouds and showers for Thursday as a front comes thru. Finally, clearing will come into the area for a nice Friday. Only for more rain to come back into the area for the long weekend. The wettest day looks like Sunday at this point.

Rain will fall through the night tonight and into the first part of Saturday. Then, just scattered rain with mist and drizzle for most of the day. It may brighten a bit on Sunday, but that may lead to another shower. With all the clouds around temps will hold near 60.

Low pressure will ride along a front stalled across the area leading to a rainy Friday. Over the weekend a weak low pressure to the west. That will lead to low clouds along with a few showers, but I am not calling for a washout weekend.

First Full Week of Fall

Fall begins on Saturday at 1049 AM! The first  weekend of fall will be warmer than the past few days with highs mainly in the 70's. However, there will be a threat for a shower overnight Saturday night and early Sunday. But, the sun will come out during the day on Sunday.

After the wild weather last night it turned into a nice day this afternoon. Now, high pressure will hang around the area for the next few days. However, the front that came thru is stalled just offshore and that may  throw more clouds our way.

Storm Alerts

The heaviest rain has held off for the most part near Boston today, but the wind has been increasing.  Later, a squall line will come thru tonight with the threat of damaging winds. There is the potential for severe thunderstorms as well as the line comes thru. The worst of the storm should be over by the morning drive.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the Boston area until 3 AM tonight.

A Tornado Watch is in effect for parts of Western New England.

A High Wind Warning is in effect until 6 AM Wednesday for the Boston area.

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Rain with thunderstorms. Very windy with a low of 67. South wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH. Total rainfall of 1-2 inches expected.

Wednesday: Showers with isolated thunderstorms until 9 AM, then becoming mostly sunny. High 73. NW wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Wednesday night: Clear and cool. Lows in the 40's

Thursday: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60's .

Friday: Partly sunny with highs in the low 70's.

Saturday: Partly sunny with highs in the 60's.

Sunday: Showers possible. Highs in the 70's.

Storm Ahead

Tuesday will start out dry, but then the showers will come into the area in the afternoon. The height of the storm will be late Tuesday night thru Wednesday morning as the center heads to our west. It may begin to dry out Wednesday afternoon, but clouds will linger thru the end of the week.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy in the morning, then scattered showers in the afternoon. Increasingly windy with a high of 75. South wind of 10-20 MPH in the morning, then increasing to 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH in the afternoon.

Tuesday night: Showers with thunderstorms. Windy with lows in the upper 60's. South wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45 MPH.

Wednesday: Showers until 9 AM, then mostly cloudy. Still windy with highs in the low 70's. South wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH in the morning, then decreasing to NW at 15-20 MPH in the afternoon. Total rainfall of 1-2 inches expected.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 60's.

Friday: Cloudy with highs in the 60's.

Soggy Week

Monday will be another great day with sunny skies and temps in the 70's. Then, a storm will come in from the west leading to a windswept rainstorm  Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning. Then, the front may stall near the coast leading to more showers for the end of the week.

Monday: Mostly sunny with a sea breeze. Highs near 73 in Boston, 76 in JP and 78 inland. SE wind of 10-20 MPH.

Tuesday: Cloudy in the morning, then showers in the afternoon. Highs in the low 70's. SE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH.

Tuesday night: Heavy rain. Lows around 60. SE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH.

Wednesday: Rain in the morning, then some clearing in the afternoon. Highs around 70.

Thursday: More showers possible. Highs in the 60's.

Cooler Weekend

A cool front will come into the area with just a chance of a shower possible. However, it will bring cooler weather into the area for the weekend. Early next week there is a chance for a rainstorm on Tuesday as a storm comes up the coast.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with isolated showers in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. High 73. NW wind of 10-20 MPH.

Monday: Sunny with highs in the mid 70's.

Tuesday: Rain and wind likely. Highs around 70.

Still Dry

High pressure will continue to dominate the weather over the next few days. However, a weak system may bring a brief shower on Saturday.  Also, temps will be in the 70's and 80's thru the weekend.

Saturday; Partly sunny with a shower possible. Highs in the mid 70's.

Feel of Fall

Skies will clear out tonight allowing temps to dip into the 40's in most areas  However, with bright sunshine temps will rebound nicely in the afternoon. Eventually the High will slip offshore leading to a warmup late in the week.

A Great Week

High pressure will come into the area for the week leading to a great week of weather. Temps will be cool in the morning, but will rebound nicely in the afternoon.

Great Weather

After the storms clear tonight great weather will move into New England. Dry air with temps mainly in the 70' during the day and 40's and 50's at night.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has been issued for the Boston area until 11 PM. A Tornado Watch has been issued for Western MA, VT and CT as tornadoes are possible there. If any warnings are issued close to Boston I will post them.

Severe Storms

A stray storm this evening has come into Boston, but it should end quickly. On Saturday a cold front will come into the area leading to more scattered severe storms late. The height of the storms should be overnight Saturday night. So, it should dry out by Sunday afternoon.

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Any storms fade to partly cloudy skies. Low 67.

Saturday: Partly sunny in the morning, then mostly cloudy with isoalted showers and severe thunderstorms in the afternoon. Windy with a high of 83. SW wind of 15-20 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. Some storms will produce damaging winds and small hail.

Saturday night: Widspread showers with scattered severe thunderstorms. Lows in the low 70'.s  Some storms will produce damaging winds and small hail.

Sunday: Scattered showers early, then becoming sunny. Highs in the upper 70's.

Tropics: Leslie will head well east of New England, making landfall in Eastern Atlantic Canada. But, the storm will lead to big waves and rip currents along the coast.

Tracking Leslie

Hurricane Leslie now has winds of 75 MPH, making it a Cat 1 Hurricane. The latest track has the storm making a very close pass to Bermuda this weekend as a major Hurricane. Then, the latest track sends Leslie well east of New England on Monday-making landfall in Atlantic Canada. Stay tuned for any changes in the track over the next few days.

As for the next few days, it will dry out over the next few days before a cool front brings rains over the weekend.

Thursday: Sun and clouds with a high of 80. South wind of 10-20 MPH.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy with a lows in the mid 60's.

Friday: Partly sunny with highs in the low 80's.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers in the afternoon. Muggy with highs around 80.

Sunday: Rain likely. Highs in the 70's. Watch for rough surf to due Leslie offshore.

Wet Wednesday

The remains of Isaac will continue to deliver showers and storms tonight and Wednesday. Thursday should start to dry out and temps will be warmer. Friday will also be dry with warm temps. Then, we will watch the track of Leslie over the weekend. At this point out to sea-but a close call.
