Nor'easter Forecast

It now appears that a major nor'easter will hit  the area  Thursday into Friday. The storm will bring rain, strong winds and big waves to eastern New England. The highest winds will be found on the Cape and Islands, but it will be windy in Boston as well. Waves could be as high as 50 FEET offshore.

Alerts:

A High Wind Watch is in effect for the Cape and Islands for Thursday night into Friday.

A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect for the coast- including Boston

Boston forecast;

Tonight: Scattered rain late. Low 40. NE wind of 15-25 MPH.

Nor'easter Details;

Thursday: Rain will arrive in the afternoon. Very windy with a  high of 43.

Thursday night: Strong winds and heavy rain continue. Temps holding in the low 40's.

Friday: Rain and wind. Highs in the mid 40's.

Peak Wind Gusts: Thursday night into Friday

60 MPH: Cape and islands

50 MPH: Rest of coast- including Boston

40 MPH: Inland

Rain Totals;

1-1.5 inches: The Boston area

1/2-1 inch: Further inland

Waves;

25 Feet: Along the entire coast

50 Feet; In the center of the storm offshore

Rest of Extended forecast:

 Saturday ;Mostly cloudy with highs in the low 40's.

Sunday ;Sunny with highs in the low 50's.
