Tracking Arthur

Tropical Storm Arthur now has winds of 70 MPH and is expected to become a Hurricane over the next 12 hours. The center of the storm will then track very close to the Outer Banks of NC on Thursday as a Hurricane. Then the storm will turn NE and come close to Nantucket on Friday night as a Category 1 Hurricane. At this stage heavy rain is the biggest threat along with some gusty winds. But just a small shift to the west could bring stronger winds to the area.

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Mostly cloudy and muggy. Low 72.

Thursday: Partly sunny with scattered showers and thunderstorms. High 87. SW wind of 10-20 MPH.

Thursday night: Showers with thunderstorms. Lows around 70.

4th OF July: Heavy rain likely. Highs in the low 80's.

Friday night: Hurricane Arthur makes it closest pass. Lows in the 70's. Stay tuned!

Saturday: Clearing comes into the area. Less humid with highs around 80.

Sunday: Sunny with highs in the mid 80's.

Note: Stay tuned for any alerts issued on Thursday.

Extra: I am still planning to give forecasts for both the Cape and Islands and Northern mountains and lakes area on Thursday. However, if there is a more  direct impact from Hurricane Arthur I may not.
