A powerful storm will come up the coast and give the area a lot of snow Thursday into Friday. It looks like light to moderate snow will start overnight Wednesday night and continue thru Thursday. The heaviest snow will be overnight Thursday night into Friday morning. At this point several inches are likely, but it does not look like a blockbuster storm. However, just a slight shift to the west could bring higher totals of snow to eastern MA. And , the snow will blow and drift because oft the strong winds.

A sharp front will divide New England in half on Sunday. South of the front here in the Boston area temps will rise well into the 50's along with rain. Headed Home!
I have now finished my finals and will be headed back to JP in the morning. As for the weather SW winds will bring in warmer air but also clouds. A cold front will hang around the area for this weekend. And north of the cold front temps will hang in the 30's, but further south of the front could be in the 60's! At this point it looks like the Boston area will be just south leading to rain showers and temps in the 50's. But in parts of Northern New England could have a significant ice storm.

Storm Update
Well, the storm intensified a little more than expected today leading to around 6 inches in the Boston area. And, heavy snows fell during the evening drive leading to major delays. Snow Update
Snow has been falling heavily in the Boston area over the last few hours. However, warmer air will eventually come into Boston and will change it over to rain. But, before that happens several inches of snow are likely in Boston. Then, after the precip stops a freeze up is expected.

Storm Forecast
A powerful storm will come up the coast and hit the area over the weekend. It now appears that it will be stronger and colder, leading to more snow in the Boston area. But, a brief change to sleet or rain is still possible in Boston as warm air comes off the water. As, winds may gust to 40 MPH from the NE. However, inland it will be all snow and it will really pile up.

Storm This Weekend
Friday will be another cold and windy day. Then a storm will come up the coast and hit us over the weekend. The steady snow should hold off until Saturday evening, but some light snow is possible earlier. And, a change to sleet or even rain is possible in Boston overnight as warmer air comes in off the water. But, where it stays all snow several inches are likely.

Cold Air
Cold air will now come into the area behind an arctic front crossing the area tonight. As temps on Thursday will struggle to reach the mid 20's along with a wind. Friday will improve a little bit before a major storm makes a close pass to the area over the weekend. At this point some snow is likely, but too early to determine rain/snow lines. The Week Ahead
Clouds and fog will be in the area on Monday and temps will hang near 40. A storm on Tuesday looks to head mainly out to sea with only a few rain showers possible. Temps will warm on Wednesday and Thursday with some sun. Some rain is possible by Friday.
