Mainly Rain

A powerful storm will ride up the coast giving the area a nor'easter. However, there is not enough cold air in place for it to be a snowstorm. It may briefly start as snow in Boston, but quickly change to heavy rain. Also, winds will gust to 50 MPH in the Boston area during the morning. Another wild day is possible on Friday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect NW of Boston

A Wind Advisory in effect for the coastline - including Boston-until 2 PM Thursday.

A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for minor splashover.

Boston Forecast:

Tonight: Cloudy until 3 AM, then rain mixed with wet snow. Low 32. East wind of 15-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH. Snow may coat the ground in some areas.

Thursday: Rain until 2 PM, then scattered rain showers. Windy with a high of 47. East wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH. Total rainfall around an inch.

Thursday night: Cloudy with drizzle and fog. Lows around 40.

Friday: Scattered rain showers with isolated thunderstorms in the morning, then partly sunny. Temps around 50 in the morning will fall into the mid 30's by evening. West wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.

Saturday: Sunny with highs in the mid 30's.

Sunday: Sunny with highs in the upper 20's.
