Storm Timeline

It now appears that the heaviest rain will arrive late in the day on Wednesday in the Boston area. Then, heavy rain will continue overnight but as colder air comes back into the area rain will change to snow. And, a flash freeze is likely Thursday morning along with strong winds.

Alerts:
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for most of VT, NH and ME where up to 2 FEET is likely!
Expecting about a foot of snow here in Plymouth, NH.

 A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for other parts of the area.

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Increasing clouds with a low of 35.

Storm Timeline:

Wednesday until 3 PM: Scattered rain showers. Temps rising to 47. East wind of 10-20 MPH.

3 PM: Rain arrives in Boston. Temp 45.

4 PM- Midnight: Heavy rain. Temps falling to 38. Wind changing to NW at 10-20 MPH.

Late Wed. Night: Rain gradually changes to sleet and then snow. Temps dramatically dropping to 27 by morning. NW winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH. A flash freeze is likely.

Thursday morning: Snow tapers off. Temps drop to low 20's. NW winds of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45 MPH.

Snow Amounts: For MA.

Coating- 2 inches: In most of the Boston area.

2-4 inches: Far NW of Boston

Rest of forecast:

Thursday afternoon: Mostly cloudy and very cold. Temps holding in the low 20's. NW wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH.

Thursday night: Clearing and frigid. Still windy with lows in the single numbers!

Friday: Mostly sunny and cold. Highs in the mid 30's . I come home for spring break!

Saturday: Rain possible. Highs around 50.

Sunday: Dry with highs in the 40's.
