Nor'easter Forecast

It now appears that a major snowstorm is on the way for Saturday. As a powerful nor'easter hits the area. Ocean effect snow will arrive by mid morning in the Boston area. Steady snow should arrive around midday and last through the afternoon and evening. And gusty winds will lead to blizzard type conditions at times in Boston. And Blizzard conditions are expected on the South Shore and Cape.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Boston for Saturday

A Blizzard Warning is now in effect for the South Shore, Cape And Islands

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Increasing clouds. Low 18.

Storm Timeline;

9 AM: Ocean effect snow arrives. Temp 23.

Noon: Steady snow arrives. Temp 25. NE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH.

1pm- 8 PM: Heavy snow. Temps holding near 25.

10 PM: Snow tapers off. Temp 20.

Peak Wind Gusts: 

50 MPH: Cape and Islands
45 MPH: South Shore
35 MPH; Boston and north shore

Snow Totals: 

6-12 Inches: In Boston
12-18+ inches: South of Boston- some places may receive over 18 inches 
4-6 inches: NW of Boston

Rest of Extended forecast

Sunday: Mostly sunny and cold. Highs in the low 20's.

Monday: Sunny with highs in the mid 20's.
