Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone and thanks for checking out my blog. I plan on updating the blog as often as I can throughout 2016. 2016 will start out with some sun and temps in the low 40's. The weekend will feature some sun and temps in the upper 30's. Some snow is possible by Monday.

Boston forecast :

Tonight: Partly cloudy with a low of 30.

New Year's Day: Partly to mostly sunny with a high of 42. West wind of 10-20 MPH.

Friday night: Clear with lows in the mid 20's.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 30's.

Sunday: Partly sunny with a snow shower late. Highs in the upper 30's.

2000th POST!!!- First Night Timeline

Freezing rain and rain will continue for the next several hours leading to more slippery spots. But temps on Thursday should reach the low to mid 40's. First Night celebrations will be dry with temps dropping through the 30's. New Year's Day looks seasonably cold and dry.

Icy Spots

Snow changed to rain today, but as temps fell any water left standing froze. Now clouds will hold on Wednesday along with some patchy freezing drizzle early. Then another front will bring scattered showers late. New Year's Eve should by dry and chilly.

Boston forecast;

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with patchy freezing drizzle. Near steady temps around 25. North wind of 10-20 MPH.

Wednesday: Areas of freezing drizzle in the morning, then cloudy in the afternoon. High 38. North wind of 10-20 MPH.

Wednesday night: Scattered rain showers. Lows in the upper 30's.

Thursday: Mostly sunny with highs in the mid 40's.

Storm Update

Snow will arrive shortly in the Boston area. However, snow will change to sleet and then rain pretty quickly. So, just minor amounts of snow is expected in Boston before the changeover. Rain will last through the afternoon.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM Tuesday for the Boston area.

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Snow mixing with sleet. Temps holding near 30. NE wind of 15-25 MPH.

Tuesday: Any snow or sleet changes to rain by 9 AM, then periods of rain. High 40. East wind of 15-25 MPH. Total snow amounts of 1-2 inches. 

Tuesday night: Some freezing drizzle or drizzle possible. Lows in the low 30's.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with highs in the low 40's.

Thursday: Some sun possible. Highs in the upper 40's. Stay tuned to my first night timeline!

New Year's Day: Sunny with highs in the 30's.

First Snow Of Season

Colder air will come into the area on Monday and then the first winter storm of the season will arrive Monday night into Tuesday. In Boston the snow will arrive after midnight on Monday night and the snow will continue into early Tuesday. However, as warm comes into the area snow will change to sleet and then rain rather quickly. But  some minor accumulation of snow is still likely.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Boston area from 8 PM Monday through 1 PM Tuesday

Boston forecast: 

Tonight: Partly cloudy with a low of 30. NW wind of 15-25 MPH.

Monday: Partly sunny and cold. Temps holding near 32. NW wind of 15-25 MPH.

Monday night: Increasing clouds in the evening, then snow after midnight. Temps in the upper 20's. East wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH. Snow accumulating around an inch.

Tuesday: Snow mixing with sleet and freezing rain until 10 AM, then periods of rain. Highs in the upper 30's. Total snow amounts of 1-3 inches expected in Boston.

Wednesday: Partly sunny with more rain possible. Highs in the mid 40's.

New Year's Day: Sunny with highs in the 40's.

Rain Sunday

Showers will arrive later tonight and last into Sunday. Cold air will finally arrive on Monday and that will set the stage for our first winter storm of the season. However, in Boston it looks like a brief period of snow and sleet that will change to rain.

Tonight: Cloudy with rain. Low 45.

Sunday: Periods of rain. High 55. SE wind of 10-15 MPH.

Sunday night: Clearing with lows around 30.

Monday: Mostly sunny with temps holing in the low to mid 30's.

Monday night: Snow arriving. Lows in the mid 20's. Some snow accumulation is likely!

Tuesday: Snow and sleet early in the morning will change to rain. Highs in the upper 30's. Stay tuned for my final snow totals on Sunday!

Wednesday: More unsettled weather possible. Highs in the 40's.

Still Warm

Saturday will feature mainly cloudy skies and temps nearing 50. Rain showers are likely at night as a front comes through. Sunday may feature a few showers before the coldest air of the season so far comes into the area on Monday. And a winter storm is possible on Tuesday.

Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for checking out my weather blog. The holiday will feature partly sunny skies and temps nearing 60. Saturday looks dry and colder before rain showers arrive at night. Early next  week we will need to watch for our first winter storm of the season.

Record Warmth

Christmas Eve day will feature record high temps along with some humidity. For the holiday itself temps will once again threaten record levels and will feature some sun. The weekend looks above average as well.

Tonight: Rain with isolated thunderstorms. Temps rising to 60 by dawn. SW wind of 15-25 MPH.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a passing shower. Humid with a high of 70.  SW wind of 15-25 MPH.

Christmas Eve: Partly cloudy and warm for Santa! Lows in the low 50's.

Christmas Day: Partly sunny with record warmth possible again. Highs in the mid 60's.

Saturday: A shower possible. Highs in the low 50's.

Sunday: Partly sunny and warm again. Highs in the low 60's. 

Holiday Heat

More rain is expected by late on Wednesday as  another storm system comes through  the area. Then record temps are expected on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. On Thursday temps could approach 70 degrees along with mainly cloudy skies and a risk of a shower. More sunshine is expected for the Holiday.

Wednesday: Increasing clouds until 3 PM, then showers with scattered downpours. High 55. SE wind of 10-20 MPH.

Wednesday night: Heavy rain. Temps rising to near 60 by dawn!

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a shower. Very warm with highs in the upper 60'S! 

Christmas Eve: Mostly cloudy and very warm for Santa! Lows in the 50's.

A front will bring rain on Tuesday along with temps in the 50's. Wednesday will also feature some rain along with warm temps. And temps on Christmas eve could approach 70 degrees!

The Week Ahead

Monday will feature an increase in clouds along with warm temps. A front will bring showers on Tuesday and more rain is expected on Wednesday. And temps by Christmas eve could set a record.

Sunny Sunday

Sunday will be another chilly day along with sunny skies and the winds will diminish. Temps will once again warm up early next week and rain is likely by midweek.

Tonight: Clear and cold. Low 28. West wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high of 40. West wind of 15-25 MPH.

Sunday night: Clear with lows in the low 30's.

Monday: Mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 50's.

Tuesday: A shower or 2 possible. Highs in the mid 50's.

Wednesday: Rain likely. Highs in the 50's.

Christmas Eve: Cloudy with record highs in the 60's possible!

Weekend Forecast

The front that came through today will stall offshore leading to cloudy skies and a risk of a shower. Saturday will then be colder and windy along with a chance of a snow shower. Sunday will also be chilly before another warm up early next week.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with fog and a passing shower. High 50. NW wind of 10-20 MPH.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy with a passing snow shower late. Lows around 30.

Saturday: Partly sunny with snow showers or flurries possible. Windy with highs in the upper 30's.

Sunday: Sunny with highs around 40.

Monday: Sunny with highs in the 50's.

More Rain

Another storm will pass to our west leading to periods of rain on Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. On Friday it looks to stay dry as the rain should be east of the area. On Saturday it will be cold and windy along with a small risk of a snow shower.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with areas of fog and drizzle. Low 37.

Thursday: Areas of fog and drizzle in the morning, then rain in the afternoon. High 48. SE wind of 10-20 MPH.

Thursday night: Rain in the evening, then scattered showers after midnight. Areas of fog with lows holding in the mid 40's.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with highs in the low 50's .

Saturday: Partly sunny with a passing snow shower. Highs in the upper 30's.

Sunday: Sunny with highs around 40.

Forecast Update

Wednesday will feature sunny skies and temps closer to normal. Then another area of low pressure will come into the area by Thursday afternoon leading to more rain. Some drying is likely on Friday, and by the weekend temps will drop back to normal.

Wild Tuesday

Rain will continue to fall overnight as temps rise to close to 60 by dawn. Behind the storm it will clear out, but it will be very windy. Wednesday will be more seasonable before more rain by late on Thursday.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of MA from 11 AM to 6 PM on Tuesday

Tonight: Periods of rain with scattered thunderstorms. Temps rising to 60 by 7 AM. South wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Tuesday: Becoming partly sunny and windy. Temps near 60 in the morning will fall to 53 by 4 PM. West wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH.

Tuesday night: Clearing and still windy. Lows in the upper 30's. West wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.

Wednesday: Sunny with highs in the mid 40's.

Thursday: PM rain likely. Highs around 50.

Friday: Partial clearing with highs in the low 50's.

The Week Ahead

Monday will be a cloudy day, but it will be mostly dry. An area of low pressure will bring heavy rains on Monday night. Behind the storm skies will clear and the wind will increase as well. Temps will cool back closer to normal by the end of the week.

Monday: Cloudy with mist and drizzle. Temps rising through the 50's. SE wind of 15-25 MPH.

Monday night: Heavy rain. Temps rising to 60 by daybreak. SE wind of 15-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny and windy. Temps near 60 in the morning will fall through the 50's during the day. NW wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.

Wednesday: Sunny with highs in the mid 50's.

Thursday: PM rain likely. Highs in the upper 40's.

Friday: Clearing with highs in the 40's. 

Cooler Sunday

Clouds will come back into the area on Sunday along with cooler temps. Then an area of low pressure will bring rain to the area by late on Monday. Clearing skies will follow the storm on Tuesday.

Weekend Update

Saturday will be another great day with some sun and warm temps. On Sunday a back door cold front will lead to more clouds and cooler temps. A storm traveling to our west should bring rain by late on Monday.

Mild Weekend

Temps will soar to near 60 on Friday along with some sun in the afternoon. Saturday will be similar, but it now appears that a cool front will cross the area on Sunday leading to cooler temps. A rain storm is likely by Monday.

Warm Weather Again

Warm weather will return to the area over the next couple of days. On Thursday temps will rise into the mid 50's along with a risk of a shower. Friday will feature more sunshine and the weekend will be dry as well. By Saturday and Sunday temps may near record levels.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with areas of fog, mist and drizzle. Low 40. South wind of 10-20 MPH.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with areas of scattered showers, fog mist and drizzle in the morning, then mostly cloudy in the afternoon. High 55. South wind of 10-20 MPH.

Thursday night: Clouds and fog come back into the area. Lows in the mid 40's.

Friday: Mostly sunny and warm. Highs in the upper 50's.

Saturday: Sunny with highs around 60.

Sunday: Partly sunny with highs in the low 60's.

Forecast Update

Skies will be mostly cloudy on Wednesday along with seasonal temps. Thursday will also be cloudy, but temps will once again rise above normal. And temps will soar into the 50's for the end of the week and into the weekend as well.

A Graze

A storm will graze the area on Tuesday leading to rain in SE MA, and maybe a shower in Boston. And temps on Tuesday and Wednesday will finally drop close to normal. By the end of the week temps will rise back up again.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a shower possible. High 43. NE wind of 10-20 MPH.

Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy with lows in the mid 30's.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a passing shower. Highs around 50.

Friday: Mostly sunny with highs in the low 50's.

The Week Ahead

Monday will be another warm day with sunny skies. Then an area of low pressure will make a close pass on Tuesday. However, it looks to head out to sea. The rest of the week will be dry and cooler.

Above Average

Sunday will be another above average day with sunny skies. Monday will also be warm and sunny before a storm makes a close pass on Tuesday. At this point it may graze the area with some showers and wind.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with highs in the 40's.

Warm Weekend

A warm weekend is in store along with sunny skies. On Saturday temps will rise into the low 50's along with light winds. On Sunday temps may close in on 60 and early next week will be warm as well.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high of 52. West wind of 10-15 MPH.

Saturday night: Clear with lows in the low 40's.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with highs around 60.

Monday: Sunny with highs in the low 50's.

Tuesday: Watching a storm. Highs in the 50's.

Friday will feature sunny skies and seasonal temps. Over the weekend we can expect warm temps and more sunny skies. The next storm potential will be early next week.

Friday: Partly sunny with highs in the mid 40's.

More rain is expected tonight and on Wednesday as another low pressure system comes through. Some drying is possible on Thursday, but it will become windy. Another warm up is expected for the weekend.

Rainy Days

A storm will bring rain over the next few days. On Tuesday rain will arrive in the afternoon and last through the evening. Rain will taper to scattered showers on Tuesday night. But more rain is expected on Wednesday. Some clearing is possible late week.

Some ocean effect snow showers are possible on Monday morning as a weak front comes through. Clouds will continue to increase on Tuesday as a storm approaches. Rain should last through Wednesday as temps warm to near 50. Dry weather returns late week.

After the cold front crossed the area today cold air will continue to come into New England. Sunday will feature sunny skies and near average temps. Monday will be dry before an area of low pressure comes into the area by Tuesday afternoon.

After a record breaking winter last winter this winter will feature some snow and cold. However, it will not feature the snow blitz we faced last winter. And most of the snow should fall towards the end of the winter. Also, my snow totals will be for the immediate Boston area.

Cold Air

Tuesday will be another cold day with some sun. The big travel day on Wednesday also will be dry. Thanksgiving looks warmer and by Friday temps will rise into the 60's.

The Week Ahead

Rain may mix with snow before ending overnight- but no accumulation is expected. The cold air will continue to come into the area for Monday holding highs near 40. Tuesday will also be cold before temps moderate for the midweek. By Thanksgiving temps will warm back above normal.

Close Call

A storm will come up the coast and make a close pass to the area. At this point rain is likely in the afternoon. However, as colder air comes into the area some rain may mix with snow-no accumulation is expected. Behind the storm cold air will stay in the area for Monday and Tuesday. And at this point travel day looks dry throughout New England.

Tough Call

A storm will effect the area over the next 48 hours. However, it is still a bit uncertain on how much rain we receive. It is now clear that Tropical Storm Kate will remain well offshore and not impact our weather. However, the storm in the mid Atlantic will bring rain and wind to the area. The first batch of rain looks to miss us to the south during the day on Tuesday. But, an area to the west will eventually come into the area by Tuesday evening and last into Wednesday. Finally, strong winds are likely late on Tuesday into the Wednesday.

Storm Possible

Monday will be a sunny day along with comfy temps. Then there is a interesting weather setup for Tuesday. A storm near the coast of Florida will come up the coast and make a close pass to the area. At the same time newly formed TD 12 is expected to become Tropical Storm Kate and pass well off the coast. However, some of its moisture could be dragged up the coast leading to more rain. Record heat is likely on Friday as warm air continues to come into the area. A cold front may bring a shower late in the day, and temps will drop behind the front. Saturday will feature cooler temps and some sun. By Sunday temps will continue to fall.

Storm Wednesday

Clouds will increase ahead of our next storm by Tuesday evening. The remains of Patricia will combine with an area low pressure to our west and come into the area on Wednesday. The storm will bring heavy rains and gusty winds. Clearing should come into the area by late on Thursday.

Strongest Hurricane

Some clouds will come into the area on Saturday as high pressures slips offshore. Then a front will bring scattered showers on Sunday morning before partial clearing in the afternoon. Early next week looks dry as well.

Tropics: Hurricane Patricia became the strongest Hurricane ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere with winds of 200 MPH!  It slammed into western Mexico tonight and a gust over 200 MPH has been recorded! It will bring heavy rains to the Gulf Coast over the next few days.

First Flakes

Hurricane Joaquin will track about 500 miles offshore late Monday into Tuesday. That will lead to rough surf and rip currents, but no major impacts are expected. The weather for Sunday will be similar to Saturday with cloudy skies and a gusty wind. Some clearing is expected as high pressure comes in from the north by Monday and Tuesday.

The latest track of Hurricane Joaquin has shifted offshore. And that track is now likely, limiting any impacts to the east coast or New England. However, it is still a powerful Hurricane and any jogs in the track could still make a difference. Over the next few days it will be wet and windy before some drying behind Joaquin.

Complex Forecast

As a front stalls offshore mostly cloudy skies will continue over the next few days along with a gusty wind. And then Hurricane Joaquin will eventually turn north and come up the east coast. TS Joaquin has formed tonight with winds of 40 MPH well east of Florida. It will turn NW and then North over the next few days. And may threaten the east coast by the weekend. Before then a storm will come into the area on Wednesday leading to heavy rain and gusty winds. As the storm stalls offshore winds will become gusty by the end of the week.

Total Lunar Eclipse

Saturday will be a great day with sunny skies and comfy temps. On Sunday clouds will increase late in the day as a storm comes up from the south. On Sunday night there is a total eclipse at around 10 PM and it should be good viewing. Then some rain is possible by Monday as the storm comes closer.

Weekend Forecast

Friday will feature of mix of sun and clouds and cool temps. Saturday will be sunny with temps near 70. And then clouds may increase on Sunday as a storm down the coast starts coming north. By Monday the storm may make a close pass.

Great Weather

Great September weather will continue through the weekend as high pressure takes control. Thursday will feature a sea breeze keeping Boston cooler than areas inland. And Friday will be the coolest of the season so far with temps in the low 60's.

First Day Of Fall

Wednesday is the first day of fall and it will be sunny with temps near normal. Cooler weather will then come into the area for the end of the week and into the weekend. And, there is no rain in sight at this point.

1900th Post!!!

This is my 1900th post since I started my blog. I plan to write as often as I can. The weather will be great throughout the week. As Monday will feature sunny skies and cool temps. Then a storm will stay out to sea on Tuesday. And, sunny skies and comfy temps will last through Friday.

Tropics: TS Ida now has winds of 45 MPH. and is no threat to land at this point.

Cool Front

A cold front will cross the area tonight into early Sunday. That will lead to an increase in clouds and a chance of a shower. Cooler air will come into New England behind the front. Then we will need to watch a storm on the east coast early in the week.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a passing shower in the morning, then mostly sunny in the afternoon High 72. NE wind of 15-25 MPH.

Showers Sunday

An area of low pressure will bring rain to the area tonight. On Sunday the rain will taper to showers that will last through the day. Behind the storm on Monday skies will clear along with a gusty wind.

Sunday: Showers. High 70. NE wind of 10-20 MPH.

Split Weekend

High pressure will move into the area leading to a nice Saturday. And then another area of low pressure will move up the coast leading to showers on Sunday. Skies will once again clear early next week.

Flood Watch

As low pressure move up the coast showers and downpours will last through Friday morning. Some clearing is possible in the afternoon as the front moves away. Saturday will be sunny and comfy before more rain is likely by Sunday.

Cold Front

The cold front will finally arrive, but it will be bring showers and downpours on Thursday. The rain will last into Friday morning before tapering off. Saturday looks cool and  dry before more rain is possible by Sunday.

Tropics: TS Henri has formed off the coast of Bermuda. It is expected to track north and may impact Atlantic Canada.
