Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone and thanks for checking out my blog. I plan on updating the blog as often as I can throughout 2016. 2016 will start out with some sun and temps in the low 40's. The weekend will feature some sun and temps in the upper 30's. Some snow is possible by Monday.

Boston forecast :

Tonight: Partly cloudy with a low of 30.

New Year's Day: Partly to mostly sunny with a high of 42. West wind of 10-20 MPH.

Friday night: Clear with lows in the mid 20's.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 30's.

Sunday: Partly sunny with a snow shower late. Highs in the upper 30's.

Monday: Some ocean effect snow is likely. Highs in the 20's. Stay tuned!

2000th POST!!!- First Night Timeline

Freezing rain and rain will continue for the next several hours leading to more slippery spots. But temps on Thursday should reach the low to mid 40's. First Night celebrations will be dry with temps dropping through the 30's. New Year's Day looks seasonably cold and dry.

Tonight: Rain mixing with freezing rain. Near steady temps around 32. North wind of 10-20 MPH.

Icy Spots

Snow changed to rain today, but as temps fell any water left standing froze. Now clouds will hold on Wednesday along with some patchy freezing drizzle early. Then another front will bring scattered showers late. New Year's Eve should by dry and chilly.

Boston forecast;

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with patchy freezing drizzle. Near steady temps around 25. North wind of 10-20 MPH.

Wednesday: Areas of freezing drizzle in the morning, then cloudy in the afternoon. High 38. North wind of 10-20 MPH.

Wednesday night: Scattered rain showers. Lows in the upper 30's.

Thursday: Mostly sunny with highs in the mid 40's.

Storm Update

Snow will arrive shortly in the Boston area. However, snow will change to sleet and then rain pretty quickly. So, just minor amounts of snow is expected in Boston before the changeover. Rain will last through the afternoon.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM Tuesday for the Boston area.

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Snow mixing with sleet. Temps holding near 30. NE wind of 15-25 MPH.

Tuesday: Any snow or sleet changes to rain by 9 AM, then periods of rain. High 40. East wind of 15-25 MPH. Total snow amounts of 1-2 inches. 

Tuesday night: Some freezing drizzle or drizzle possible. Lows in the low 30's.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with highs in the low 40's.

Thursday: Some sun possible. Highs in the upper 40's. Stay tuned to my first night timeline!

First Snow Of Season

Colder air will come into the area on Monday and then the first winter storm of the season will arrive Monday night into Tuesday. In Boston the snow will arrive after midnight on Monday night and the snow will continue into early Tuesday. However, as warm comes into the area snow will change to sleet and then rain rather quickly. But  some minor accumulation of snow is still likely.

Alert:
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Boston area from 8 PM Monday through 1 PM Tuesday

Boston forecast: 

Tonight: Partly cloudy with a low of 30. NW wind of 15-25 MPH.

Monday: Partly sunny and cold. Temps holding near 32. NW wind of 15-25 MPH.

Monday night: Increasing clouds in the evening, then snow after midnight. Temps in the upper 20's. East wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH. Snow accumulating around an inch.

Tuesday: Snow mixing with sleet and freezing rain until 10 AM, then periods of rain. Highs in the upper 30's. Total snow amounts of 1-3 inches expected in Boston. 

Tuesday night: Scattered rain possible. Lows in the upper 30's,


Wednesday: Partly sunny with more rain possible. Highs in the mid 40's.

Rain Sunday

Showers will arrive later tonight and last into Sunday. Cold air will finally arrive on Monday and that will set the stage for our first winter storm of the season. However, in Boston it looks like a brief period of snow and sleet that will change to rain.

Tonight: Cloudy with rain. Low 45.

Sunday: Periods of rain. High 55. SE wind of 10-15 MPH.

Sunday night: Clearing with lows around 30.

Monday: Mostly sunny with temps holing in the low to mid 30's.

Monday night: Snow arriving. Lows in the mid 20's. Some snow accumulation is likely!

Tuesday: Snow and sleet early in the morning will change to rain. Highs in the upper 30's. Stay tuned for my final snow totals on Sunday!

Wednesday: More unsettled weather possible. Highs in the 40's.

Still Warm

Saturday will feature mainly cloudy skies and temps nearing 50. Rain showers are likely at night as a front comes through. Sunday may feature a few showers before the coldest air of the season so far comes into the area on Monday. And a winter storm is possible on Tuesday.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for checking out my weather blog. The holiday will feature partly sunny skies and temps nearing 60. Saturday looks dry and colder before rain showers arrive at night. Early next  week we will need to watch for our first winter storm of the season.

Record Warmth

Christmas Eve day will feature record high temps along with some humidity. For the holiday itself temps will once again threaten record levels and will feature some sun. The weekend looks above average as well.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a passing shower. Humid with a high of 70.  SW wind of 15-25 MPH.

Christmas Day: Partly sunny with record warmth possible again. Highs in the mid 60's.

Holiday Heat

More rain is expected by late on Wednesday as  another storm system comes through  the area. Then record temps are expected on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. On Thursday temps could approach 70 degrees along with mainly cloudy skies and a risk of a shower. More sunshine is expected for the Holiday.

Tonight: Partly to mostly cloudy with fog. Low 47.

Wednesday: Increasing clouds until 3 PM, then showers with scattered downpours. High 55. SE wind of 10-20 MPH.

Another storm will pass to our west leading to periods of rain on Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. On Friday it looks to stay dry as the rain should be east of the area. On Saturday it will be cold and windy along with a small risk of a snow shower.

Rain will continue to fall overnight as temps rise to close to 60 by dawn. Behind the storm it will clear out, but it will be very windy. Wednesday will be more seasonable before more rain by late on Thursday.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of MA from 11 AM to 6 PM on Tuesday

Warm weather will return to the area over the next couple of days. On Thursday temps will rise into the mid 50's along with a risk of a shower. Friday will feature more sunshine and the weekend will be dry as well. By Saturday and Sunday temps may near record levels.

Back To Normal

After the cold front crossed the area today cold air will continue to come into New England. Sunday will feature sunny skies and near average temps. Monday will be dry before an area of low pressure comes into the area by Tuesday afternoon.

Tonight: Partly to mostly cloudy with a low of 34.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high of 45. NE wind of 10-15 MPH.

Sunday night: Clear with lows around 30.

Monday: Mostly sunny and chilly. Highs around 40.

Tuesday: Cloudy with rain arriving by dark. Highs in the mid 40's.

Wednesday: Rain likely. Highs in the 50's.

SPECIAL: 2015-16 Winter Forecast

After a record breaking winter last winter this winter will feature some snow and cold. However, it will not feature the snow blitz we faced last winter. And most of the snow should fall towards the end of the winter. Also, my snow totals will be for the immediate Boston area.

A storm will come up the coast and make a close pass to the area. At this point rain is likely in the afternoon. However, as colder air comes into the area some rain may mix with snow-no accumulation is expected. Behind the storm cold air will stay in the area for Monday and Tuesday. And at this point travel day looks dry throughout New England.

Tough Call

A storm will effect the area over the next 48 hours. However, it is still a bit uncertain on how much rain we receive. It is now clear that Tropical Storm Kate will remain well offshore and not impact our weather. However, the storm in the mid Atlantic will bring rain and wind to the area. The first batch of rain looks to miss us to the south during the day on Tuesday. But, an area to the west will eventually come into the area by Tuesday evening and last into Wednesday. Finally, strong winds are likely late on Tuesday into the Wednesday.

Storm Possible

Monday will be a sunny day along with comfy temps. Then there is a interesting weather setup for Tuesday. A storm near the coast of Florida will come up the coast and make a close pass to the area. At the same time newly formed TD 12 is expected to become Tropical Storm Kate and pass well off the coast. However, some of its moisture could be dragged up the coast leading to more rain. Wild Morning

A wild overnight and Thursday is ahead as the storm continues. Heavy rain and thunderstorms will last into Thursday morning. Some storms will lead to damaging winds and lightning. Behind the storm temps will rise into the 70's along with some clearing.

A major storm will hit the area on Wednesday into Thursday. Rain will arrive in the afternoon and continue into Thursday morning. The winds will pick up by evening and last into Thursday as well. And, some minor coastal flooding is likely also.

Storm Wednesday

Clouds will increase ahead of our next storm by Tuesday evening. The remains of Patricia will combine with an area low pressure to our west and come into the area on Wednesday. The storm will bring heavy rains and gusty winds. Clearing should come into the area by late on Thursday.

Strongest Hurricane

Some clouds will come into the area on Saturday as high pressures slips offshore. Then a front will bring scattered showers on Sunday morning before partial clearing in the afternoon. Early next week looks dry as well.

Tropics: Hurricane Patricia became the strongest Hurricane ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere with winds of 200 MPH!  It slammed into western Mexico tonight and a gust over 200 MPH has been recorded! It will bring heavy rains to the Gulf Coast over the next few days.

As a front stalls offshore mostly cloudy skies will continue over the next few days along with a gusty wind. And then Hurricane Joaquin will eventually turn north and come up the east coast. However, it is still uncertain on how far north it comes. The latest track from the NHC sends it into the Mid-Atlantic states on Sunday as a Hurricane. Stay tuned for future track updates.

Tropical Storm Joaquin

TS Joaquin has formed tonight with winds of 40 MPH well east of Florida. It will turn NW and then North over the next few days. And may threaten the east coast by the weekend. Before then a storm will come into the area on Wednesday leading to heavy rain and gusty winds. As the storm stalls offshore winds will become gusty by the end of the week.

Tuesday: Partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers in the afternoon. High 80. SW wind of 15-25 MPH.

Total Lunar Eclipse

Some patchy frost is possible tonight in the usual colder locations. Sunday will be a nice day with sunny skies and comfy temps. On Sunday night there will be a super moon total lunar eclipse starting at around 10PM. Early next week more clouds are expected with some rain possible.

1900th Post!!!

This is my 1900th post since I started my blog. I plan to write as often as I can. The weather will be great throughout the week. As Monday will feature sunny skies and cool temps. Then a storm will stay out to sea on Tuesday. And, sunny skies and comfy temps will last through Friday.

Cool Front

A cold front will cross the area tonight into early Sunday. That will lead to an increase in clouds and a chance of a shower. Cooler air will come into New England behind the front. Then we will need to watch a storm on the east coast early in the week.
