Wednesday will be another cold day with highs in the 20's. Then a major nor'easter will hit the area with a mix of precip and strong winds. However, snow will change to rain in Boston cutting back on snow totals. And, winds may gust past 50 MPH during the height of the storm.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and cold. High 25. NE wind of 10-15 MPH.
Wednesday night: Increasing clouds with lows around 20.

8 AM: Snow arrives in Boston
9 AM- Noon: Snow becomes steady. Temps rising to 32.
Afternoon; Any snow changes to heavy rain in Boston. Temp 36. Snow continues well NW. NE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH.
Thursday evening: Rain will likely change back to snow. Temps falling to 30. NW wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH.
Late Thursday night: Snow ends by dawn. Temps falling to 28.
Snow Totals:
1-3 Inches: The south Shore
3-6 inches: In the Immediate Boston area. About 4 inches in JP.
6-9 inches: NW of rte 128 .
9-12+: Further NW. Some areas get more than a foot.
Peak Wind Gusts:
55 MPH- Cape and Islands
50 MPH- Along rest of coast-including Boston
40 MPH-Further inland.
Rest of week forecast:
Friday: Clearing with highs in the upper 30's.
Saturday: Some snow possible. Highs in the 30's.
Sunday: Sunny with highs in the 20's.
