Snow on the Cape

Once again, the storm failed to produce the snow this afternoon in the Boston area. However, the snow did make it as far as about Brockton, and then stalled. It has been snowing at a good clip on the Cape all afternoon, and they have picked up a few inches in some locations. However, the snow will reach the Boston area by 9 PM, and fall lightly through the night in Boston and points west. But, on the South Shore it will fall hard for a while, before tapering off late. Snow showers will continue throughout the day tomorrow, but it will be hard for the snow to stick on the pavement.

Tonight: Periods of snow and Windy. NE winds gusting to 50 MPH on the cape and 40 MPH in Boston. Lows in the upper 20's to 30.

Thursday: Snow showers, mainly from Boston points south. Highs in the mid 30's and remaining breezy.

Amounts: Thru Thursday

4-7: The south coast, Cape Cod and the Islands.

2-4: The south shore.

1-2: Boston to Worcester and points north. However, not much north of route 2. An inch in JP.

Boston, MA weekend forecast:

Friday: Cloudy in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. Highs around 40.

Saturday: A great day with sunny skies and highs near 50. NW wind will keep away the sea breeze.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with highs in the 40's to near 50.

  1. Why does being just a few miles from downtown in JP make a difference in temps by as much as several degrees?
