Quiet through the weekend

The storm on Friday will likely stay south of the region, so conditions will remain chilly and quiet through the weekend. Some melting will get done each day, followed by re-freezing at night. The next storm will wait until Monday, and it will be heavy rain.

Boston, MA forecast:

Tonight: Cloudy early, then clearing. Lows near 27 Downtown, 25 in JP and 20 in the suburbs.

Thursday: Bright blue skies from start to finish, but watch for black ice in the morning. High 37. NW wind of 10-15 MPH.

Thursday night: Clear, lows near 20 in Boston and teens elsewhere.

Friday: A mix of sun and clouds as the storm passes by to the south. Chilly, high 36. North wind of 10-15 MPH.

Saturday: Sunny, but a bit cooler with a high near 34.

Sunday: Sunny in the morning, then increasing clouds. Highs near 40.

California storms: More heavy rain fell in LA today, along with heavy mountain snow. There have been massive mudslides causing major damage in the hills just east of LA.  Also, 50 inches of snow fell in the Sierra mountains over the last couple of days. More storms are expected each day through Saturday.
