No big storm

The strong coastal storm is going further out to sea then previously thought, just providing the area with wind and cold air. The area may get a few light rain or snow showers by a weak storm approaching from the west, but the bigger story will be the warm up begins this weekend. Cold air comes in briefly for Friday, but then a warm front comes through on Saturday, and temps on Sunday may be in the low 60's.

Boston, MA forecast:

Tonight: Cloudy with scattered showers of rain in the evening, then scattered rain and snow showers after midnight. Lows in the 30's. North winds of 10-15 MPH with gusts to 25 MPH.

Friday: Chilly and windy. A chance of a snow shower before 9 AM, then quickly becoming sunny. High 46. NW wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Friday night: Clear, coldest night yet this season with lows around 34 in Boston and the 20's elsewhere.

Saturday: Partly to mostly sunny, high near 50.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, lows in the 30's to near 40.

Sunday: Great day with sunny skies and temps near and just above 60!

Extended: Early next week will be warm, with temps in the mid and upper 60's!

Tropics: Tropical Storm Ida formed yesterday near Costa Rica, and it quickly became Hurricane Ida. It has now moved inland, and weakened to a Tropical Storm with winds of 60 MPH. The track takes it northward, and into the Gulf of Mexico by early next week.
