Nor'easter

Hey, I am back in Boston after a trip to the Vineyard, and then to my neighbors wedding. I start my senior year of High School at Another Course To College in Brighton on Thursday. My blogs may become a bit less frequent, as I need to focus on my studies.

A major storm is centered just off the coast of North Carolina. It has brought close to 10 inches of rain over the last couple of days to parts of  costal Carolina and Virginia. It is also bringing very strong winds and rough surf. At this point, it is not tropical. However, it may become a Tropical Storm(its name would be Grace)  as it drifts over the open waters tonight and tomorrow. Either way the effect is going to be the same. There is a high pressure stalled to the north of us, and the big pressure difference will create strong wind gusts starting tomorrow. The wind will become strong out of the East and Northeast starting Tomorrow , gusting to around 30 MPH along the coast around the Boston area, and 40 MPH on the cape and islands. The strongest winds will be on Thursday and Thursday night, ahead of the approaching storm. However, the high pressure will keep the rain away for at least one more day. The rain is expected to begin in the form of showers on Thursday afternoon, and become more frequent and heavy overnight. The showers will last through Friday and maybe into the early morning hours on Saturday.  However, the models are in disagreement. Some models have the storm strengthening into a major Tropical system and making landfall on Friday. Other models have it being blocked by the high, and moving well to the south of the Cape and falling apart.  At this point, somewhere in between seems the most likely outcome.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, low around 58.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, becoming windy. Cool, high 67. NE winds of 10-15 mph in the morning becoming 15-20 mph with gusts to 25 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday night: Cloudy. Low 54. NE winds 15-20 mph with gusts to around 30 MPH.

Thursday: Cloudy in the morning, then showers likely after 3pm. High 64. Very windy. E/NE winds 15-25 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH in Boston area, and 40 MPH  on the cape. Winds may gust close to 50 for a brief time on the outer cape and Nantucket.

Thursday night: Showers, some showers may produce heavy rainfall. Low 58. Windy. E winds 15-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH, and 40 MPH on the cape.
