Storm Update

The snow has arrived this evening and will last through the night. However, it now appears that a quicker change to rain is expected in the Boston area and will limit snow totals. And the rain may fall heavily at times Sunday. A flash freeze is expected behind the storm.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect north of Boston

 A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Boston and points south

Storm Timeline Update;

Now Through 5 AM: Snow. Temp rising to 32.

5AM- 7AM: Snow changes to sleet. Temp 34

7AM-3PM: Rain. Temp rising to 37.

3pM-5PM: Rain may change back to snow or sleet before ending.

Snow Totals:

1-3 Inches; South of Boston

3-6; In Boston

6-9: North of Boston


Rest of Extended Forecast:

Sunday night: Clearing and frigid. Lows around 5 Above. NW wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH,.

MLK Day; Sunny and frigid. Highs around 10.

Tuesday ;Sunny with highs in the mid 20's.

Wednesday: Increasing clouds with highs in the 30's.
