Cold Days

Rare snow squall warnings were issued for the Boston area this evening as an arctic front come through. Now, arctic air will come into New England for Thursday leading to dangerously cold wind chills. Temps will moderate a bit on Friday and more so over the weekend.

A Wind Chill Warning is in effect for parts of northern and western New England

Snow Squalls

A storm will bring a mix of rain and snow tonight with limited accumulation in Boston. An arctic front will bring snow squalls in the afternoon and evening on Wednesday with an inch or 2 possible in any squall. Very cold air will come into the area behind the front.

Tonight: Rain and snow. Low 28. SE wind of 15-25 MPH/. Snow may coat the ground.

Wednesday; Mostly sunny until 4 PM, then snow squalls. High 32. West wind increasing to 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45 MPH.

A storm will bring a mix of snow and rain to the area Tuesday into Tuesday night. Some ocean effect snow is possible during the day. The steady snow will then arrive Tuesday evening before changing to rain. Any rain will change back to snow before ending.

Temps will warm on Wednesday and scattered showers are possible by late in the day. Periods of rain will arrive Wednesday night into Thursday and fall heavily tat times. And the wind will become gusty as well as temps rise into the 50's on Thursday.

A powerful storm will bring a mix of precip from Saturday night through Sunday. It will as snow before changing to sleet and freezing rain in Boston. South of Boston it will likely change to all rain for a time. And further north it will remain mostly snow. Also  gusty wind will lead to coastal flooding.

It now appears that the storm on Friday will only bring scattered snow showers with no accumulation. Then a powerful storm will bring snow changing to a wintry mix Saturday night into Sunday. Significant snow amounts are expected before the changeover. And the wind will be gusty along the coast leading to pockets of coastal flooding.

Wednesday will be a colder day with sunny skies and lighter winds. Then a weak system will bring snow to the area Thursday morning with little accumulation. It should dry out for Friday.

Wednesday; Mostly sunny with  high of 32. NW wind of 10-20 MPH.

Wednesday night: Increasing clouds early, then snow late. Lows in the mid 20's.

Thursday; Snow in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 30's. Total snow amounts of a coating to an inch.

Friday; Sunny with highs in the low 40's.

Saturday: Rain likely. Highs in the 40's.

Sunday: Sunny with highs in the 40's.
