More Cold

Another very cold day will occur on Sunday with temps holding in the mid teens. New Year's Eve will also be bitterly cold and windy and the cold will hang around through early next week.

Some Snow

A clipper system will bring scattered snow to the Boston area on Saturday afternoon and evening. Then more arctic air will come into the area for the New Year.

Still Cold

Another frigid day will occur on Friday with a mix of sun and clouds. Then a clipper system will graze the area on Saturday afternoon leading to some snow. Behind the storm it will remain cold for the New Year.

Arctic air will continue to effect New England over the next several days. The coldest day appears to be Thursday with highs around 12 along with a gusty wind. Friday won't be much warmer before we watch a storm for the weekend.

Frigid Days

Frigid air will continue to come into the area over the next few days. As temps will struggle into the low 20's on Wednesday along with a biting wind. And by Thursday temps will only reach the low teens.

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates and thanks for checking out my blog. After the snow this morning cold air will continue to come into the area.  On Tuesday temps will be held in the 20's and by mid week temps will struggle to reach the teens during the day.

Christmas Day Storm Forecast

A storm will bring heavy precip and strong winds to the area on Christmas Day. It now seems that most of it will fall as rain in Boston before ending as snow. However, an inch or 2 is still possible. Behind the storm arctic air will come into the area.

Storm Update

More precip will continue to come into the area for Saturday. And as temps hold near freezing rain will freeze on contact in the morning before changing to all rain by the afternoon. Then after a break on Sunday more snow is likely on Christmas Day.

A Mix

A warm front will bring a mix of snow, freezing rain and rain to the area Friday into Saturday. It will start as snow and amount to a few inches before the changeover. After raining for overnight the temps may drop again leading to freezing rain Saturday morning.

Complex Storm

Colder air will continue to come into the area setting the stage for the next storm. The storm will arrive on Friday and last through Saturday. It will start as snow and will change to ice and then rain. Before the changeover an inch or 2 is possible.

A Graze

Yet another clipper will make a close pass to the area Friday evening. It will bring some snow to the area with little accumulation. More flurries are possible on Saturday before drying out for Sunday.

Close Call

A clipper will make a close pass to the area on Thursday bringing some light snow to the area. It seems that the snow will barely make it to Boston with more to the south. So a coating up to an inch of snow seems likely.

A strong cold front will bring rain and gusty winds to the area tonight. Skies will then clear for Wednesday along with falling temps. Colder air will continue to come into the  area for the end of the week.

SPECIAL:2017-18 Winter Forecast

I believe this winter will feature above average temps and near normal snow. Most storms will pass to our west leaving Southern New England on the warm side of the storm. I also think that the most snow will fall in the first half of the Winter this year. Finally, we may get an early jump on Spring next March.

Warmer air will come into the area along with gusty winds on Tuesday. A front will then bring rain showers on Wednesday. Thanksgiving day looks cold and dry.

WIndy Weekend

An front combined with an area of low pressure will bring rain and gusty winds to the area on Thursday afternoon. Skies will clear for Friday along with more wind. A more powerful storm will bring rain and damaging winds this weekend.

Skies will clear for Wednesday as high pressure takes control for one day. Then an area of low pressure will bring more rain to the area for Thursday. More rain is likely by the weekend.

Clouds will hang tough on Tuesdays along with cool temps. Some sun is likely by Wednesday before a front arrives on Thursday.

A arctic cold front will cross the area Friday morning with a risk of a rain shower. Behind the front it will turn much colder and be windy. Record cold is likely Friday night as temps fall to near 20. It will remain cold over the weekend.

Freeze Warning

Temps will drop below freezing for the first time this season in Boston tonight leading to a freeze. Then on Thursday temps will rise close to 50 along with sunny skies. An arctic front will then come into the area on Friday.

Hurricane Irma will make landfall in south Florida on Sunday with winds over 150 MPH! It will bring life threatening storm surge, flooding rains and severe winds. After that will track into the SE US bringing rains to the area. Here in New England High pressure will block the storm from coming up the coast. As mainly dry weather will last for several days.

Major Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma now has winds of 185 MPH north of Puerto Rico this evening! The latest track sends it towards the Bahamas and south Florida by the weekend. Stay tuned for further track updates! For here at home a front I am expecting showers into Thursday morning before drying. Cooler air will come into the area behind the front.

Summer Like Tuesday

A summer type day is in store for Tuesday as a front approaches. The front will then stall over the area for a few days leading to showers and storms. Cooler air will come into the area.

Remains Of Harvey

Back Home

I am back home from my trip out west and now will blog more frequently.  A cold front crossed the area earlier this afternoon and cool air will continue to come into the area tonight. As Friday will be sunny and chilly along with a gusty breeze. Saturday will then be the pick of the long holiday weekend.

Storm Update

An area of a low pressure will make a close pass to the area tonight into Wednesday morning. That will bring rain and gusty winds to the Cape and Islands. A few showers are possible in the Boston area. Then a front will bring scattered showers by Thursday.

Tropics: TS Harvey now has winds of 50 MPH and is finally expected to move off to the NE. More rain is expected, but the heaviest is ending for Houston. And over 50 inches of rain has fallen in a town in Texas. That is the most amount of rain for any one storm in the Lower 48.

A Graze

Potential Tropical Cyclone 10 will make a close pass to the area on Tuesday night into Wednesday. It will bring rain showers and gusty winds to the Cape and Islands. It appears that will remain dry in the Boston area. Behind the system a front may bring showers on Thursday.

TS Harvey: Harvey continues to bring heavy rains to Texas. As another 10-20 inches of rain is likely in spots.

The Week Ahead

Potential Tropical Cyclone 10 has formed off the east coast tonight with winds of 35 MPH. It is expected to track NE and make a close pass to the MA coastline Tuesday night into early Wednesday as Tropical Storm Irma. Other than that threat High Pressure will remain in control for the next few days.

Hello From Idaho!

My brother, my dad and I are in rural Idaho after seeing the total solar eclipse on Monday. It was an incredible sight to see and tough to describe. As for the next few days back home in the Boston area I am expecting a chance of a shower on Wednesday morning before some clearing. Then Thursday into Friday it will be sunny.

Headed Out West For Eclipse

Me, my brother and my dad are headed out of town to see the total solar eclipse on Monday in Idaho. After that me and my dad will be headed to the SW for more travels. I am planning on returning on August 31st.  So, I will blog when I have access and time.

Hurricane Gert will pass around 350 miles SE of Nantucket on Wednesday leading to rough surf and rip currents. However, Wednesday will be a great  day in the area with sunny skies and warm temps. Thursday also looks good before some showers by Friday.

Hurricane Gert

Hurricane Gert has formed with winds of 75 MPH off the East coast. It is expected to turn NE and out to sea as a strengthening Hurricane over the next few days. It will bring waves and rip currents to the area on Wednesday. The front that is helping push Gert out to sea will lead to clouds on Tuesday. The sun will return on Wednesday and Thursday.
