Tornado in Boston?
There is a lot of damage throughout the Boston area. A macroburst came through Framingham, Watertown, Newton, Brookline and Boston on Sunday afternoon. Winds gusted as high as 80 MPH throughout the area. A macroburst is when the winds come down to the ground and spread out from the thunderstorm. Unlike a Tornado, when winds a circular around the storm. Many trees came down throughout the area, including some right in front of the statehouse. More trees came down in Coolidge Corner in Brookline. At one point a Tornado Warning was in effect for Boston. I was in Plymouth, NH for my college orientation Sunday afternoon, so I missed the storms. Does anyone know what happened here in JP?
Wind gusts:
Newton: 80

Clay center: 61

TORNADO WATCH!
A Tornado Watch has been issued for the entire Boston area until 10 PM tonight. That means that conditions are right for a Tornado, but no tornado has been seen. IF a Tornado Warning is issued it means a Torando has been seen in our area, and you should take shelter immidately. The best place to be is in the basement of your house. Otherwise, get to an interior room of the house. This afternoon a cold front will charge towards the area with a line of thunderstorms. I expect the line to come through Boston between 5 and 8 PM. I will keep updating until we need to head to Plymouth, NH. There is a Tornado watch for all of NH and VT for this afternoon as well.

The weather will not be great for orientation, as a warm front comes through southern New England tomorrow morning with showers and thunderstorms.
