Another Nor'easter

A storm will come up the coast on Thursday and blow up into a huge storm. However, it will become a big storm slightly too far east to deliver a big punch here, but Maine is expected to have accumulating snow. Even so, we in Boston will have the cold air and the strong winds, especially on Cape Cod. The showers will move in on Thursday afternoon, and continue through the night and into Friday morning. However, as cold air gets pulled down from the north the precip may mix with snow overnight Thursday. Then, as the wind shifts to the NW early Friday morning , it may change to all snow showers- even in the city. Little or no accumulation is expected.

Boston, MA forecast:

Tonight: Clouds early, then clearing and chilly. Lows around 32 in the coldest areas to 35 in JP to 38 Downtown.

Wednesday: Bright and sunny, clouds may start to increase right before the sun sets. Chilly, high 48. West wind of 5-10 MPH.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the 30's.

Thursday: Cloudy until 2pm, then showers. Chilly, high 46. Wind shifting to the NE at 15-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Thursday night: Showers until 1am, then the rain showers will mix with snow. Lows in the low to mid 30's. Windy. NE wind shifting to north at 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH, except winds may gust past 50 MPH on the Cape.

Friday: Coldest day so far this season. SNOW showers likely until 10 am, except rain showers on the Cape. Then partly sunny. Cold and windy. High 43. NW winds of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45 MPH; it may feel like the LOW 20'S at times. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

Tropics: The storm near Bermuda failed to become a named storm (it would have been Ida) as it moves toward Canada. But, a storm near Costa Rica may form into a tropical storm as it slowly moves northward.
