Blizzard Warning

 A historic Blizzard is about to get underway here in the Boston area. As snow will accumulate in FEET and the wind could gust to Hurricane force along the coast. That will create Blizzard conditions in the Boston area. The height of the storm appears to be the daylight hours of Saturday. The snow should wind down by the evening. 

Alerts; 

A Blizzard Warning is in effect for the Boston area for Saturday 

A Winter Storm Warning  is in effect for the Worcester area 

A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for the coast

Storm Timeline; 

Tonight: Snow .Temps falls to 20 by dawn. Wind picks up.

Saturday; Blizzard! Temps hold around 20. Wind could gust to Hurricane force. 

9 PM Saturday; Snow tapers to snow showers. 

Peak Wind Gusts; 

80 MPH: Cape and islands 

70 MPH: Rest of coast-including Boston 

60 MPH: Just inland 

50 MPH:  Further inland 


Snow Totals; 


20-30+ Inches; The Boston area. Some areas may get close to 3 FEET of snow! About 2 FEET in JP! 

15-20 inches; NW of route 495

10-15 inches; Portions of western New England 

Waves and Coastal Flooding 

Waves; Up to 30 FEET! 

Coastal Flooding: Moderate in some areas
