More Storms

 Clouds will increase on Wednesday ahead of a weak system on Wednesday night. The system will bring scattered rain showers to the area. Thursday will be a break and New Year's Eve will be dry and cold. Another storm arrives by New Year's  Day afternoon.

Tonight :Clear with a low of 18. 

Wednesday; Increasing clouds with a high of 38. SW wind of 15-25 MPH. 

Wednesday night: Scattered rain showers . Near steady temps in the upper 30's. 

Thursday: Any showers end, then partly sunny. Highs in the low 40's.

Cold And Windy

 Tuesday will feel like Winter again with cold temps and a biting wind. Wednesday will also be cold but clouds will increase during the day. Then back to back storms will impact the area for the New Year.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny and windy. High 35. NW wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. 

Tuesday night: Clear and cold .Lows around 18.

Thursday; Rain likely. Highs around 40.

Merry Christmas!

 Merry Christmas to all who celebrate and thanks for checking out my weather blog. The holiday will feature a major wind driven rain storm. Downpours with scattered thunder will occur in the morning and the wind will roar. The rain will last through  the rest of the day but the wind will die off. And flooding is likely in low lying and urban areas. Rivers may also flood.

A Flood Watch is in effect for all of  New England 

 A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for the south coast

Christmas Eve;  Heavy rain late. Temps rising to 62 by dawn. South wind increasing to 25-35 MPH with gusts to 60 MPH. 

Christmas Day; Merry Christmas to all who celebrate.  Rain with scattered thunderstorms. Temps near 62 in the morning will fall to 45 by 4 PM;. South winds of 25-40 MPH with gusts to 65 MPH early, decreasing to 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45 MPH late.

Christmas Day Storm Forecast

 A major storm will bring flooding rains and damaging winds to the area late Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. The height of the storm now appears to be in the morning of Christmas Day. As downpours and scattered thunderstorms will come along with damaging winds.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for the Boston area from Midnight Christmas Eve through 4 PM Christmas Day 

A Flood Watch is in effect for all of New England and most of the East Coast

Thursday; Mostly cloudy with a passing shower. High 53. South wind of 15-25 MPH. 

Christmas Eve; Scattered showers early , then showers with scattered thunderstorms late. Temps rising to 60. South wind increasing to 25-40 MPH with gusts to 60 MPH. 

Christmas Day ; Merry Christmas to al who celebrate! Heavy rain with scattered thunderstorms. Temps near 60 in the morning will fall to the low 40's by late in the day. South wind of 25-40 MPH with gusts to 70 MPH! Total rainfall of 2-3 inches.

 A High Wind Watch has been issued for the Boston area for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Winds may gust as high as 65 MPH! And flooding rains are also likely. And temps will crash.

Calm Before Holiday Storm

 Tuesday and Wednesday will be nice days with some sun. Then a powerful storm will impact the area Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. Winds above the surface will be up to 100 MPH from the south! Now, not all of that will make it to the ground, but at this point winds are expected to be damaging. And several inches of rain is expected.

Tonight: Cloudy with areas of fog and freezing fog. Low 30. 

Tuesday; Mostly cloudy with areas of fog in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. High 42. West wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

 A nor'easter hit the area today with heavy snow and strong winds. Snow piled up over a foot in the Boston area, but in other parts of the northeast  totals over 40 INCHES were reported!

 The snow has started falling in the Boston area as of 10 PM  The snow will quickly become heavy and last all night and through the morning before tapering off by mid afternoon. A foot of snow or more is now likely in the Boston area.

A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for the coast 

Storm Timeline :

Now Through 10 AM: Heavy snow and windy .Temps near 32 will fall to 25 by 10 AM. 

10 AM-3 PM: Snow gradually tapers off. Temp 22. 

3PM-6PM:: Any snow ends. Temp 20. 

Peak Wind Gusts: 

60 MPH: Cape and islands 

50 MPH: Rest of Coast 

35 MPH: Inland

12-16 + inches; The Boston area. Some places may get more than 16 inches. About 14 inches in JP!

 A nor'easter will hit the area with heavy snow and gusty winds Wednesday night through Thursday. The heaviest snow will fall Thursday morning and along with gusty winds it will look like a Blizzard a t times. And it now appears that about a foot of snow is possible in the Boston area.

Winter Storm Ahead

 Tuesday will be a cold and quiet day along with a breeze. Clouds will increase on Wednesday ahead of our nor'easter. The nor'easter will bring heavy snow and gusty winds. Snow will fall heavily at times along and south of the Pike. At this point several inches are likely. However ,just a slight shift in the track could change the totals.

 A weak system will graze the area on Monday with a mix of rain and snow showers with little accumulation. Cold air will come into the area behind the system possibly setting the stage for a powerful nor'easter Wednesday night into Thursday.

Northern Lights Viewing!

 There is a chance we could see the northern lights tonight and Thursday night especially north of Boston and away from city lights. I have seen the lights once-on a field trip in Central MA when I was in elementary school. The best viewing appears now to be tomorrow evening, but that could change. As skies will clear and it will be the peak of  the show.

 A powerful ocean storm will graze the area with snow showers along the coast with limited accumulation.  On Wednesday an area of low pressure may bring more snow showers before a late week warmup.

Nor'easter Forecast

 A powerful nor'easter will hi the area Saturday into Saturday night. It will start as rain everywhere, but as colder air comes into the area it will change to snow from west to east. The snow will fall heavily in the afternoon and evening and along with strong winds will make it like a blizzard at times. And now seems like Boston will see a few inches with more NW of the city.

Tonight: Rain overspreads the area. Low 43. 

Saturday morning. Rain >Temps fall to 38. NE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH. 

Saturday afternoon; Rain changes to snow around 3 PM in the city, but earlier  the NW and later to the south . Temps fall to3 5. NW wind of 25-35 MPH with gusts to 55 MPH. 

Saturday night: Heavy snow in the evening, then snow showers late. Lows around 30. NW wind of 25-35 MPH with gusts to 55 MPH.

1-3 inches: South of Boston 

3-5 inches; In Boston around 4 inches in JP 

5-10; inches  NW of Boston 

10-14+ Higher   elevations. Some parts of Northern New England may get near 2 FEET+

 Clouds will increase on Friday ahead of our nor'easter. The storm will bring rain, snow and wind to the area Saturday into Saturday night. However, it is still unclear how much snow will fall close to or in the city. A small shift in the track will make a big difference. So stay tuned for my snow totals on Friday.
