A Tropical Storm (TS) needs winds of at least 39 MPH to be given a name
Hurricane Categories:
Category 1: Winds of 75-94 MPH
Category 2: Winds of 95-110 MPH
Category 3; Winds of 111-130 MPH
Category 4: Winds of 131-155 MPH
Category 5; Winds of 156 +
Note: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) will issue a 5 day cone forecast for winds and position of the storm. I will use their forecast on my blog.
New England Review; A few storms made a close pass to the area last year but no storm made landfall. The last storm to make landfall was Hurricane Bob in 1991.

Most storms this year will form closer to the coast and threaten the US and other countries that way earlier in the season. By later in the season storms will form in the Central Atlantic.

2018 New England Forecast
Storms will form off the East Coast and make a close pass to New England that way. By later in the season storms will track across the Atlantic and come close to New England.
Boston forecast:
Tonight; Low clouds and fog with scattered showers, mist and drizzle. Low 48. NE wind of 15-25 MPH.
Memorial Day: Mostly cloudy with areas of fog in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. High 60. NE wind of 15-25 MPH.
Monday night; Partly cloudy with temps holding around 60.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny with highs in the mid 80's.
Wednesday: Sunny with highs in the 80's.
Thursday; Sunny with highs in the 80's.
Friday: Showers likely. Highs in the 70's.
So a pretty regular hurricane season. Glad it won't be worse than usual!
