Blizzard Forecast

A powerful nor'easter will bring heavy snow and damaging winds to the area on Tuesday. The snow will arrive tonight and fall heavily throughout the day. Snow rates of 1-3 inches per hour are likely during the height of the storm. And winds will gust past 50 MPH along the coast.

A Blizzard Warning is in effect for parts of the coast

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Boston and elsewhere

A Coastal Flood  Warning is in effect for parts of the coast

Storm Timeline: Tuesday

3 AM: Snow arrives

5AM-5 PM: Heavy snow and strong winds. Temps near 32.

Tuesday night: Periods of snow continue. Lows around 30.

Peak Wind Gusts;

65 MPH: Cape and islands

60 MPH: Other Parts of the coast

50 MPH: The Boston area

Snow Totals;

15-20+ inches: The Boston area- some places may get more than 20 inches

10-15 Inches: Further West

6-10 inches: Parts of the Cape and Islands because of a change to rain

Rest of week forecast:

Wednesday; Scattered snow showers. Highs in the upper 30's .

Thursday; Sunny with highs in the upper 30's .

Friday; Sunny with highs in the 30's.
