Blizzard Forecast

A powerful nor'easter will bring blizzard conditions to the area on Thursday. The snow will arrive first thing in the morning and last through the evening hours. Damaging winds will blow and drift the snow around during the day on Thursday. And moderate coastal flooding looks likely as well.

A Blizzard Warning is in effect for the coast-including Boston

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect elsewhere

A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for the coast

A Hurricane Force Wind Warning is in effect for the ocean

Blizzard Timeline:

6 AM: Snow arrives in Boston

8AM-5 PM: The height of the storm with heavy snow and damaging winds. Snow rates of 2-3 inches per hour. High 28.

8PM: Snow tapers off

Peak Wind Gusts:

75 MPH: Cape and islands

65 MPH: South shore

60 MPH: Boston and north shore

50 MPH: Further inland

Snow  Totals:

10-15+ inches: The Boston area. Some locations may receive more than 15 inches.

6-10 inches: Further SE because of a mix with rain and well to the NW

3-6 inches: Outer Cape and Nantucket because of a change to rain for a while
