Snow will continue to fall over the next couple of days leading to a lot of snow in the Boston area. And, the wind off the water to lead to even more snow. Sunday will feature periods of snow that will amount to a few inches. Then an area of low pressure on Sunday night and Monday will lead to heavy snow. As it may snow a few inches per hour during that time. The snow will not end until Tuesday morning.

Tonight: Periods of snow. Low 25. NE wind of 10-20 MPH. Snow amounts of 2-4 inches expected.
Sunday: Periods of snow. Near steady temps around 28. NE wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH. Additional snow amounts of 2-4 inches expected.
Sunday night: Snow becomes heavier. Near steady temps in the mid 20's. NE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. Additional snow amounts of 4-8 inches possible.
Monday: Heavy snow likely. Highs around 30. NE wind of 15-25 MPH. Additional snow amounts of 4- 8 inches expected.
Monday night: Snow tapers off. Temps in the 20's.
Total Snow Amounts:
15-20+Inches: From Boston and points north. Some places may approach 2 FEET!
10-15 Inches: West of Rte. 495 and parts of the South Shore.
5-10 Inches: Cape and Islands because of mix with rain.

ReplyDeleteinteresting stat to look at how long snow stays on the ground. better than total accumulation because some snows melt quickly (April Fools' storm) and others don't (this Feb!).
