Storm Forecast

Saturday will feature increasing clouds with precipitation arriving by evening. It will start out as  snow but change pretty quickly to rain in Boston. And temps on Sunday will rise into the 50's along with a south wind. Colder air will come back into the area behind the storm and more snow is likely by Tuesday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Boston and points NW.


A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Cape and Islands.


Boston forecast:


Tonight: Clear and cold. Low 23. NW wind of 10-20 MPH.


Saturday Morning: Increasing clouds with temps rising to 30.


Storm Timeline:


4 PM: Snow arrives in Boston. Temp 32.


5 PM-10 PM: Periods of snow. Temp 32. East wind of 10-20 MPH.


10 PM- Midnight: Snow mixes with rain, freezing rain and sleet. Temp 34 .


After midnight: Heavy rain. Temps rising to 40 by dawn. SE wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.


Sunday: Scattered rain showers. Highs in the mid 50's. SE wind of 15-25 MPH.


Snow Totals:

About 1 inch: in Boston


1-3 Inches: NW of Boston. Some ice also likely.


3-6 inches: Further NW of Boston with some ice accumulation




Rest of forecast:


Sunday night: Rain ending. Temps falling to around 30.


Monday: Clearing and colder. Highs in the mid 30's.


Tuesday: Increasing clouds with snow likely late. Highs in the upper 20's. Stay tuned!


Wednesday: More snow possible. Highs in the 20's.
