A powerful nor'easter will hit the area Monday night into Tuesday leading to a blockbluster blizzard. The steady snow will arrive on Monday evening and quickly become heavy. The heavy snow will last through Tuesday and into Tuesday night. That will lead to major snow totals with some areas nearing 2 FEET of snow! Winds will also be a major factor as gusts could come close to Hurricane force on the Cape and Islands. And. major coastal flooding is likely along the coast as well.

A Blizzard Warning is in effect for the Boston area from 7 PM Monday until 1 AM Wednesday.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect NW of Worcester
A Hurricane Force Wind Warning is in effect for the open waters
A High Wind Warning is in effect for the island of Nantucket
A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for the coast for the potential for major flooding.
Blizzard Timeline: For Boston
Monday afternoon: Ocean effect snow showers likely. Temp 28.
7 PM Monday: Snow arrives in Boston. Temp 28.
8 PM Monday-Midnight: Steady snow.
Midnight Tuesday-4 PM Tuesday: Heavy snow and damaging winds. Temp falling to 20. Stay off the roads!
5 PM- Midnight: Snow gradually tapers off. Temp 20.
1AM-4 AM Wed.: Snow tapers to snow showers before ending.
Peak Wind Gusts:
80 MPH: Cape and Islands
70 MPH: South shore and south coast
60 MPH: Rest of coast-including Boston
50 MPH: Further inland
Coastal Flooding:
Major: Parts of north and south shore.- 4 AM High Tide on Tuesday. Waves as high as 25 FEET!

18-24+ inches: In the Boston area. Some areas may get more than 2 FEET!
12-18 Inches: Parts of northern and Western New England. Also Cape and Islands because of a mix with rain.
6-12 inches: Other parts of New England
