It now looks like a powerful storm will hit the area from Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. The storm will bring heavy snow and gusty winds to the area. Boston will get several inches, but the highest totals will be on the south shore and the cape. Coastal flooding should be minor in most areas, as the tides are low.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Boston area from 1 PM Tuesday until 1 PM Wed.
A Blizzard Watch is in effect for the South shore out through the Cape and Islands.

Tonight: Partly cloudy and cold. Low 13. NW wind of 15-25 MPH.
Tuesday morning. Increasing clouds with temps around 17.
Storm Timeline: Tues. into Wed.
3 PM: Ocean effect snow showers possible. Temp 20. NE wind of 15-25 MPH
6 PM: Steady snow arrives in Boston. Temp 18.
7PM-8 AM Wed. Heavy snow and strong winds. Temp falling to 10. NE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH. Blowing and drifting snow. Wind chill values as low as 15 BELOW.
10 AM: Snow ends along the coast. Temp 13. North wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.
Peak Wind Gusts:
50 MPH - South shore and Cape and Islands
40 MPH-The Boston area.
30 MPH - Further inland.
Snow Totals:
10-12+ Inches: South of Boston-some areas will get more than a foot
6-10 Inches: The Boston area- about 8 inches in JP
3-6 inches: NW of Worcester
