Tracking Irene

Irene is currently a Cat 1 Hurricane with winds over 90 MPH centered north of the DR. It is going to become a major Hurricane and come close to the NC coast on Saturday. The storm is then expected to turn up the east coast and come close to New England on Sunday. The latest track has Irene making A DIRECT HIT on the Boston area on Sunday as a high Category 1-winds around 85 MPH . Of course this could shift, but based on this track HURRICANE CONDITIONS would be possible even in the Boston area. Stay tuned for more track updates as we get closer to the weekend!

Boston, MA forecast:

Tonight: Clear and comfy. Low 60.

Wednesday: Sunny with low humidity. High 83. NW wind of 10-20 MPH.

Wednesday night: Clear with lows around 60.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy until 3 PM, then scattered thunderstorms. Highs in the low 80's.

Friday: Partly sunny with a shower possible. Highs in the low 80's.

Saturday: All eyes turn to Irene coming from the south. Increasingly cloudy and windy. Highs in the 80's.

Sunday: Depending on the exact track of Irene heavy rain and damaging winds are possible. Stay tuned!

East coast Earthquake: A magnitude 5.8 quake centered outside of Washington DC this afternoon caused shaking up and down the east coast. The quake was felt in the Boston area as well as many people felt the rumbling. Many buildings were evacuated, but no major damage was reported.
