Hurricane Irene is still a Category 1 Hurricane with winds of 80 MPH with higher gusts. However, this is still a powerful storm and it will effect New England in a big way. The height of the rain will be in the morning, and the height of the wind will be in the afternoon. A Hurricane Warning remains in effect for the Cape and Islands and a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Boston area for Sunday. Storm surge will range from around 5-9 FT on the south coast of New England, leading to some damage right at the shore. Make sure you have flashlights and water just in Case the power goes out.

Hurricane Irene Timeline:
Tonight: Showers with thunderstorms. Wind increasing to 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH by morning. Near steady temp around 70.
Sunday: Heavy rain in the morning will taper to showers. SE wind will be 25-35 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH in the morning will increase to 40-50 MPH with gusts to 70 MPH in the afternoon. Highs in the low 70s. Isolated tornadoes are possible also!
Sunday Night: Showers will end and wind will gust past 60 MPH from the west. Lows around 60 by morning.
