Heat Wave Ahead

The highest heat and humidity of the season so far will surge into New England for the end of the week. Wednesday will be like today with temps nearing 90. Thursday temps will soar well into the 90's along with high humidity. On Friday temps will have a chance to hit 100 as the heat peaks.

Alert: An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect for the Boston area from Noon to 8 PM on Thursday and Friday. Stay indoors as much as possible and drink plenty of water.

Boston Forecast:

Tonight: Clear and OK for sleeping. Lows near 65 in Boston, 63 in JP and 57 in the suburbs.

Wednesday: Sunny and becoming hot. High 90 and still not too humid. SW wind of 10-15 MPH.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy with lows in the upper 60's.

Thursday: Hazy, hot and humid. Breezy with highs in the upper 90's. SW wind of 15-20 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. Heat index values up to 105 in the afternoon.

Friday: Another triple H day with highs around 100! Heat index values up to 108 in the afternoon.

Saturday: Still hot and humid with a PM storm possible. Highs in the mid 90's.

TS Bret: Tropical Storm Bret now has winds of 50 MPH as it slowly makes it way out to sea over the next few days.
