Watch Extended

A TORNADO WATCH has been extended until 11 PM tonight for the Boston area. Tornadoes have touchdown in Springfield, MA and in central MA. Stay tuned for more details on the Tornado damage in MA tomorrow. Conditions are prime for Tornadoes, so be prepared to take shelter. If a TORNADO WARNING IS ISSUED I will post it. Stay tuned for more updates.

    The storm that just passed over JP had lots of great lightning, but also a near-constant bright flashing all over the sky. I assume it's different from the usual lightning bolts that we also saw. What is it and what causes it?

    It could be because the heart of the storm is so close, it creates one big flash rather than multiple flashes. Also, it could have been cloud to cloud lightning creating a flash more like a sheet, that is called "sheet lightning." Scientists are not sure how it is caused.
