Wild Storm

A powerful storm will pass NW of the Boston area on Friday, causing a major rainstorm. Precip may start as wet snow after midnight, but won't amount to much in Boston. Rain will fall heavily into the mid afternoon, and then showers will continue. Rain will cause some urban flooding, especially during the afternoon. As the storm passes by winds will shift to the NW, causing the rain to flip to snow before ending. Winds may gust past 60 MPH in the Boston area Friday night, causing some some trees to come down. Another weak storm will hit the area on Sunday, leading to a few inches of snow.

Alerts:

A Flood Watch is in effect for the Boston area until 5 PM Friday. Big puddles on roads and some basement flooding can be expected.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for VT and NH-including here at PSU.

A High Wind Warning is in effect Friday night for the Boston area.

Boston, MA forecast:

Tonight: Cloudy with scattered rain and snow showers. Low 34. A coating of snow is possible in some areas.

Friday: Rain showers may mix with wet snow until 9 AM, then heavy rain with rumbles of thunder possible. High 47. SE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH in Boston, but 65 MPH on the cape and islands. 1-2 inches of rain expected.

Friday night: Rain showers changing to snow showers and ending by 11 PM, then clearing.
Very windy as temps drop dramatically into the low 20's by morning. NW winds increasing to 25-35 MPH with gusts to 60 MPH! Total snow amounts around an inch. A quick freeze up is expected.

Saturday: Sunny with highs around 30.

Saturday night: Increasing clouds with snow late at night. Lows in the teens.

Sunday: Snow in the morning, then remaining cloudy. Highs in the upper 20's. 1-3 inches of snow expected.

Monday: Another powerful storm will effect the area with heavy rain and strong winds. Highs around 50.

  1. Heard there is a huge storm coming your way - maybe a foot of snow? Will you get that much in Plymouth or just Vermont where Charlie and Isaac are skiing?
