After the 6-9 inches of snow today, another storm will come in behind it and snow will be flying by 4 AM. Snow will eventually change to sleet and freezing rain all the way to Rte. 495. Even in the city, I am worried about ice buildup causing downed trees and power lines. The cold air will tough to remove near the surface, but temps higher up in the atmosphere will cause sleet pellets or rain to freeze on contact. I don't think plain rain will make it into the city- meaning temps would need to be above freezing-but it will be close.
