World weather: A 8.3 magnitude earthquake has hit about 125 miles southwest of American Somoa, which is east of Australlia, at around 130 PM EDT. This is classified as a major earthquake. A tsunami warning has been issued for the islands of New Zealand, Fiji, and some other small pacific islands. A tsunami watch was issued for Hawaii. However, there is NO tsunami warning for the Australian coastline. In American Somoa, there are reports that a 10 FT Tsunami wave is already heading towards the island. Evacuations are underway in American Somoa as the earthquake has shook the buildings. The tsunami is not expected to reach the United States west coast.
As for our weather in Boston it is another breezy day as more cool air gets drawn down from Canada. The cold front that has started the cool down brought a squall line of thunderstorms last night. Some wind damage was recorded, as a gust to 45 MPH (according to Weatherbug )was recorded here in JP! Each day will be cooler then the day before, as high temps fall to in to the upper 50's and low 60's by the end of the week. More windswept rain is expected for at least part of the weekend.
Tonight: Partly cloudy with a chance risk of an early shower. Low around 52 in the city, to 40's elsewhere. West wind around 10-20 MPH in the city, and 5-10 MPH elsewhere.
Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high around 63. A chance of a shower in the afternoon. West wind of 10-15 MPH.
Wedensday: A chance of a shower early, then clearing. Low around 45 in downtown Boston, 42 in JP and mid to upper 30's in most other areas outside of 128.
Thursday: Cool and partly to mostly sunny. High around 60.
Thursday night: Partly to mostly cloudy, low around 45 in the city to the upper 30's outside of 128.
Note: Weather bug is a area of local weather stations that I use to keep track of current conditions and forecasts. It also tracks rainfall, peak wind gusts, and high and low temps for the day. Currently, the closest weather station to JP is on Columbia road by Franklin Park.
