Tropical Storm Danny has formed in the Atlantic. It currently has winds of 45 MPH. It is moving WNW at about 10MPH. It is expected to continue on this track and then turn north by late Friday. Then Danny may be become a minimal hurricane with winds around 75 MPH. The track of the storm then takes it northeast, towards us on Saturday. The current exact track has it hitting Nantucket with around 75 MPH winds. However, some models show a DIRECT HIT on the south shore on Saturday afternoon. The track over Nantucket may bring 50 MPH gusts in the Boston area. If the storm tracks further to the west(south shore track), it would bring damaging winds to our coastline. If it tracks further east(out to sea), then there would be less of a wind impact. However, either track we are expecting heavy rain (2 inches +) and strong surf in most of eastern Mass, including the Boston area. This one appears that it will pass closer than Bill did, so it is important to keep an eye on this potential Hurricane.
