SPECIAL: 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season Forecast

 This year I am expecting about an average Hurricane Season. However, I still expect many landfalls in the US this summer. And most storms should form early in the season, before tapering off later in the year. This year I expect New England to have a below average chance of a landfalling Hurricane. 

Review of Facts; 

A Tropical Storm (TS) needs winds of at least 39 MPH to be given a name. 

Hurricane Categories; 

Cat 1; Winds of 74-95 MPH

Cat2; Winds of 96-110 MPH

Cat 3: Winds of 111-129 MPH-mean a Major Hurricane 

Cat 4: Winds o f 130-155 MPH

Cat 5: Winds of 156+MPH

No storms are likely to form over the next several days. 

Boston forecast; 

Tonight: Clear and turning breezy. Low 58. NE wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH.

Memorial Day; Sunny and windy. Much colder with a high of 65. NE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. 

Monday night: Clear and chilly. Lows in the mid 40's. 

Tuesday; Sunny with highs around 70.

Wednesday; Sunny with highs in the low 80's. 

Thursday  Sunny with highs around 90.

Friday; Showers and storms possible. Highs in the 90's.
