Blizzard Forecast

A powerful nor'easter will bring heavy snow and strong winds to the area on Thursday. The snow will start first thing in the morning and quickly become heavy. The heavy snow will last through the afternoon before tapering off in the evening. Winds will also be gusty blowing the snow around. And temps will fall through the 20's during the storm

A Blizzard Warning is in effect for the South Shore, Cape and Islands.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the rest of the Boston area

A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for the coast

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Increasing clouds with a low of 28.

Storm Timeline: For Boston

7 AM: Snow arrives in Boston. Temp 28.

9AM-4 PM:  The height of the storm hits-heavy snow and strong winds. Temps falling through the 20's. NE wind of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45 MPH.

7 PM: Snow tapers off.

Peak Wind Gusts: 

55 MPH: Cape and islands

45 MPH: Rest of coast-including Boston

35 MPH: Further Inland 

Snow Totals:

10-14+ inches: Most of the Boston area. Some spots may get more than 14 inches of snow. About a foot in JP!

6-10 inches; Cape and Islands

Rest of Extended forecast:

Thursday night: Clearing and windy. Very cold with lows around 8 above.

Friday; Mostly sunny with highs around 20.

Saturday: More snow likely. Highs around 30.

Sunday: Mix possible. Highs in the 30s.
