Snow Forecast

Clouds will increase on Sunday and snow will arrive by the evening. The snow will fall steadily through the night and will end by dawn on Monday. And it looks like several inches will fall in the Boston area. It will clear out on Monday, but it will be windy. The next storm looks to arrive by late on Tuesday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect north of Boston.

Tonight: Clear and frigid again. Low near 10 in Boston and BELOW 0 in the suburbs.

Sunny Saturday

Saturday will feature sunny skies and temps in the mid to upper 20's. Then clouds will increase on Sunday ahead of our next storm. The snow will arrive Sunday evening and last through the night leading to several inches of snow.

Snow Update

A storm will graze the area tonight leading to snow. A few inches are possible in the Boston area. The snow will end by dawn, and then skies will slowly clear on Wednesday and temps will rise into the 30's. Yet another cold front will bring colder air back into the area for the end of the week with another chance of snow.

Yet another arctic front will cross the area tonight. That will lead to falling temps and a gusty wind on Monday despite sunny skies. Tuesday will also be very cold and sunny. Then we will watch a storm on Wednesday. It will remain cold through the end of the week.

Mixed rain and snow will continue to fall through the evening and into the morning. On Sunday afternoon it will dry out and temps will rise above freezing. On Monday skies will clear and temps will be very cold again. It will remain cold next week.

Another Weekend Storm

Yet another weekend storm will hit the area. But this time warmer air will come into the Boston leading to a mix of precip. It will start as snow in the afternoon, but change to freezing rain and sleet for a time. And then will likely change to rain Sunday morning.

More Cold

Another Frigid Friday is in store with temps holding in the teens along with a gusty wind. Then a storm will come into the area for the weekend. At this point it looks like snow changing to sleet and then rain. Before the changeover a few to several inches of snow are likely.

The snow fell steadily this afternoon and evening amounting to a few inches. Now there will be a break in the steady snow until around dawn. Then the next round of snow will arrive and become heavy along with damaging winds. That will lead to blizzard conditions. Then the skies will clear, but it will remain cold and very windy and that will cause bitter wind chills.

A major nor'easter will hit the area leading to heavy snow and damaging winds. The snow will arrive in the afternoon and will lead to a couple of inches through the evening. Then a brief lull is likely at a point Saturday night. And then the heavy snow and damaging winds will come into the area on Sunday morning. At that time the snow will fall at a few inches per hour. And, some coastal flooding is likely as well.

A front stalled south of the area will lead to snow for 4 straight days. On Saturday some snow showers are likely, but it won't amount to much. On Saturday night the snow will become more steady and few inches are possible. A couple more inches are likely on Sunday as the snow continues to fall. Then a storm will likely lead to more accumulating snow on Monday.

Bitter Cold

Arctic air will continue to come into the area overnight along with a gusty NW wind. Friday will be very cold with sunny skies as temps will struggle to reach 20. Then a front will stall near the area over the weekend leading to periods of snow. Then a more powerful storm is possible by Monday. As, it may snow on and off for 4 days in a row.

Alerts:
A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for the Boston area until 10 AM Friday.

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Clear and frigid. Lows near 3 BELOW in Boston and 10 BELOW in the suburbs. NW wind of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 20 BELOW.

Friday: Mostly sunny and cold. High 22. NW wind of 10-20 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 20 BELOW before 10 AM.

Friday night: Increasing clouds with lows around 10.

Saturday: Cloudy in the morning, then periods of snow in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 20's.

Saturday night: Periods of snow. Lows in the teens.

Sunday: The snow may become heavy by late in the day. Highs in the mid 20's. Stay tuned!

Monday: Heavy snow possible. Highs in the 20's. Stay tuned!

Tuesday: The snow finally ends. Highs in the 20's.

Some Snow

An arctic front will cross the area on Thursday leading to some snow in the morning. Then colder air will come back into the area on Thursday night and Friday as temps may drop below 0. Then we will have to watch a long duration storm over the weekend that may drop more snow.

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Cloudy with snow arriving late. Low 30. SW wind of 10-20 MPH.

Thursday: Snow in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. Temps near 32 in the morning will fall to 17 by 4 PM. NW wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. Total snow amounts of a coating-2 inches likely.

Thursday night: Clearing and frigid. Windy with lows BELOW 0. NW wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. Wind chill values as low as 25 BELOW.

Friday: Mostly sunny with highs around 20.

Saturday: Increasing clouds with snow possible in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 20's.

Sunday Through Monday: Potential for a long duration storm. Highs in the 20's. Stay tuned!

More Snow

Clouds will increase on Wednesday along with a risk of a snow shower as a weak system comes through. Then we will watch a storm on Thursday, but at this point it looks like just a graze. Colder air will then come back into New England before another storm is possible by Sunday.

Boston forecast:

Tonight: Clear and cold. Low 10.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a passing snow shower. High 35. SW wind of 10-20 MPH.

Wednesday night: Cloudy with snow likely late. Lows in the mid 20's.

Thursday: Periods of snow. Highs around 30. Total snow amounts of 1-3 inches expected.

Thursday night: Any snow ends, then clearing. Very cold with lows BELOW 0.

Friday: Sunny with highs around 20.

Saturday: Sunny with highs in the upper 20's.

Sunday: Watching another storm. Highs in the 20's.

Record Breaking Snow

The 16 inches that fell in Boston today has lead to the snowiest 10 day period in Boston history with over 40 inches. That broke the old record of near 33 inches in 1996. Now, clearing will come into the area on Tuesday but it will be very cold. Some snow showers are possible on Wednesday as a front crosses the area, and then we will watch another storm by Thursday.

Storm Timeline

A storm will hit the area on Monday leading to heavy snow and some wintry mix. The snow will start by morning and become heavy by late morning. However, as some warm air comes up from the south some sleet is possible. However, I am still expecting a good amount of snow. The wind will also gust as well blowing and drifting the snow.

 A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Boston area for Monday.

Storm Timeline:
By Dawn Monday: Snow arrives. Temp 15.

Monday morning;  Snow becoming heavy. Temp rising to 30. NE wind of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 MPH.

Noon-3 PM: A mix with sleet is possible as warm air comes into the area. Temp 32.

3 PM-8 PM: Any mix changes back to snow. Temp falls to 20. North wind of 15-25 MPH.

10 PM: Snow ends. Temp 20.

Snow Totals;

8-12+ inches: In Boston and points NW. Some areas may get more than a foot of snow.

4-8 Inches: South of Boston due to a change to wintry mix.

Monday night: Clearing with lows in the single numbers!

Tuesday: Sunny with highs in the teens.

Wednesday: Some  snow possible. Highs in the mid 20's.
