A storm centered over the Ohio valley will intensify as it travels east. The current track would take it directly over Providence, then over Plymouth, MA on Sunday afternoon. South of the system winds could gust to 40 MPH out of the SE. However, north of the low pressure center there will be just light East to Northeast winds. A slight shift in this track may bring stronger winds to the Boston area. This system is NOT a tropical system, just a very strong regular low pressure center. Rain will overspread the area around dawn and continue, heavy at times, throughout the day. Most places should pick up around 1 inch of rain.
Tonight: Clouds gathering during the night. Light rain by dawn. Lows around 53 in Boston, and mid to upper 40's outside the city.
Sunday: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times, and thunder is also possible. Breezy with SE winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts to 40 mph for areas south of Plymouth, including the Cape and Islands. NE/E winds of 5-15 MPH for the Boston area points north. Highs will be range from around 58 northwest of Boston, to 65 in the city, and about 70 on the cape.
Sunday night: Rain ending, then clearing. Low around 54. Still breezy along the coast.
Monday: A strong cold front will aproach in the evening hours. Before the front arrives, partly to mostly sunny with highs around 80. Ahead of the front, SW of 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH in the afternoon. A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 PM.
Monday night: Showers and some thunderstorms likely in the evening, Then clearing after midnight. Low 54.
Tropics: As of 11 am on Saturday, tropical depression 8 is moving NW at 14 MPH. Maximum winds are only 35 MPH. It is currently around 725 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands, off the coast of Africa. It may become Grace before turning to the north and falling apart over the open Atlantic.
