SPECIAL: 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season Forecast

This is my forecast for the upcoming Hurricane season. The season lasts from June 1st through November 30th.

Note: Scroll to the end to see my latest forecast

Review Of Facts:

A Tropical Storm (TS) needs winds of at least 39 MPH to be given a name

Hurricane Categories:

Category 1: Winds of 74-94 MPH

Category 2: Winds of 95-110 MPH.

Category 3; Winds of 111-129 MPH

Category 4: Winds of 130 -155 MPH

Note: The National Hurricane Center( NHC) will issue a 5 day forecast of position and winds of the storm. I will use there forecast here on my blog

New England Review: Last year remains of a few storms brought heavy rains to the area. However, no storm made landfall. The last Hurricane to make landfall was Hurricane Bob in 1991.

Atlantic Hurricane Season Averages:

Total Storms:12
Hurricanes: 7
Major Hurricanes: 3
Us Landfall: 3

2017 Hurricane Season Forecast:

Total Storms: 15
Hurricanes: 9
Major Hurricanes :5
Us Landfall: 5

2017 Forecast of Tracks:

Most storms will form in the Caribbean towards the start of the season and may impact the SE US that way. Later in the season storms will form in the central Atlantic and will track towards the US.

2017 New England Forecast:

Storms that form in the central Atlantic may track close to the area by mid to late season. Earlier in the season storms may form off the SE coast and track north threatening the area. So I believe we have an average chance for a storm this year.
